I recently upgraded because my girlfriend (now wife) wanted to play Sims so I used it as an excuse. Instead of getting her a Sims capable machine I gave her my old i7/1080ti and bought myself an i5/4080.
i5 13600k / EKWB 360 AIO
Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX
64GB RAM
Gigabyte Windforce 4080
Lian Li O11D Mini
I also have a server PC running in my cabinet that I use as a sandbox/self hosting machine. Base OS is Proxmox then it runs Docker or Debian VM's. This picture is old but the only one I have of it. Its from when I went from single SSD to adding in HDD storage rails to make a ZFS pool. I switched the MB for quad channel instead of dual channel for RAM and 2.5GB NIC, and had to switch to an even more LP Noctua cooler for clearance. Want to get an Intel ARC GPU for quicksync so I can take some load off of CPU but its not hot or dragging, just an upgrade. No, I don't build on carpet and you shouldn't either.
i510400 / 32GB RAM DDR4

Pumaxcs would know better than I do.
Honestly the i3 and i5 k-model CPUs are terribly underrated. They often offer some great performance for a great price. I'd chose the i5 k-series any day over a lesser i7 of the same generation.
Back in the day when an i5 had 4 cores and no HT and an i7 had 4 cores with HT there was an argument to be made. Now my i5 has 14 core/20 threads, I've also got a really good chip that allowed me to undervolt while still hitting 5.1Ghz boost. This machines only purpose is for games and it can easily handle all of it. I personally do not see a reason today to buy an i7 or i9, either save money and get an i3 or i5 for an upgrade elsewhere or if your budget has the room just get an AMD X3D CPU instead.

Couldn't have said it any better. Literally the only times you really need a good cpu is when you're rendering or simulating something, but 99% don't do that and even then it only takes a little longer.
So i have a custom loop system and im about to change my coolant for the first time since buying it a year and a half ago. Ive looked at the options of mixing my own coolant and buying premix. I think for the time being im going to buy premix. Im leaning towards the Corsair Hydro XL8. Im getting blue, but was wondering if i can mix it with the clear version to change the the blue a bit. Would i be better off not messing with mixing or would it be better to mix it with dye?
I had a custom loop but only through one flush so take what I say with a grain of salt as its mostly reading and not experience. I had solid black soft tubes and clear liquid. I like premix, mixing is fine as long as its in the same family. Once you start with a premix and dilute with your own water or a different company the ratios of antimicro and corrosion agents can get off whack and melt something or allow growth. If you just need it for added liquid or to dilute the tint you should be fine to do so.

i assumed so but wanted to check. I want to go for a lighter blue and the premix corsair fluid is a bit too dark for what i want. so i figured if i also got a premix corsair fluid that i could mix them.
Oh I like the car on the riser cable! I always wanted to do a miniature inside the case around the GPU/intake gap but never found something that fit the way I wanted it to.

thank you, its my favorite part of my setup. Its a 1:43 Max Verstappen F1 car. Im not sure how bit you want to go just bc of weight on you card and stuff. But that model is perfect size and weight. I want to get a 1:43 of each team in f1 but some cars are hard to find. I have RedBull, Ferarri, And Mercedes. I just found all those at walmart for like $10
