Whats your pc?

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

Should be good to go. IDK if you have seen all the drama regarding the 970 and not being able to "use" all 4GB of vRAM but its still the best card unless you are going to go to a 980. Worth reading about none the less. Other than that everything looks good to me.

I agree, call it a 3.5GB card and I will still buy one hahaha.

How is AMD vs Nvidia in graphic cards? Any difference, prices vs performance etc? I like the Nvidia, they makes sense. New generation = higher number :p

Its been awhile since AMD has done anything to wow me, CPU or GPU. They run extremely hot compared to nVidia so the built in OC performance is little to none and drivers (unless using Linux, AMD wins there) are not as optimized as nVidia's are as a whole. There 1 claim was Mantle but nVidia released an update and now their cards run as good/better on Mantle games as an AMD card so its useless now. For the price, I'll admit a R9 280X is a sweet card but its not something I would get after having two generations of nVidia cards.

I'm thinking of running a server from my home. The things I plan to run from the server is about 5 mxsim - servers (mx,sx,custom + some more) and probably some some VPN service so I can access it from other places. The spare parts I'll have for use is MSI GT620 (not gtx) 2GB, AMD FX4100 AM3+ Socket 3.4GHz 4 core and a motherboard that works with it. I'll probably have 8GB of RAM as well. Do you think that would be enough to run it? I'll probably throw in a smaller SSD for storage.

The parts left is case and PSU. What PSU would be sufficient to run that rig? :)

I have 100 down / 10 up, so it'll be what comes out of that. I'm not aiming for it to be popular servers, more like relaxed/fun racing. If it'd be much players, I may close down some server and use the other ones.

If you are building or upgrading soon here is a smasher of a deal.

Samsung 850 SSD
$75 - 120GB
$99 - 250GB
$199 - 500GB
$399 - 1TB

The 120GB deal isn't that good but the 250-1TB is a fantastic deal.

Okay, let's go! I've now decided to upgrade my desktop and use the spare (+a few new) parts for a server. Please comment if you have any thoughts or wonders, or better deals :p I am going to buy parts from a Swedish store called "komplett.se", so amazon or anything else probably won't be a place where I buy from.

My current Desktop rig:
550W PSU
MSI GTX660
Asrock 930 (I think..) max 8gb ram, am3+ socket (m-atx)
8GB RAM
2 HDD's (500GB + 2TB)
AMD FX4100 3.6GHz 4-core
Samsung DVD writer..

What I am going to upgrade: (spare parts will go to the server)
16GB RAM (I assume what RAM isn't tooo big of a deal)
MSI M/B, Gaming 5 perhaps?
intel i5 4690k
New case

So the server will have the parts:
Asrock 930 (I think..) max 8gb ram, am3+ socket (m-atx)
8GB RAM
1 SSD (cheapest > 100gb)
AMD FX4100 3.6GHz 4-core
MSI GT620 2GB
Samsung DVD writer..
500-600W PSU (cheapest I can find?)

And the upgraded desktop would be:
MSI gaming 5 M/B
intel i5 4690k
16GB RAM
MSI GTX 660 2GB
New case (it's white lol)
500GB + 2000GB HDD's
550W PSU

So what am I going to do with these 2? The desktop will run games mainly, and it is MxSim, CoD: mw2 (yes I still play it every now and than!), CoD: Ghosts, surfing around the internet, skype, photoshop and renering/editing videos every now and than (mxs videos).

For the server, I think I am going to go with a windows server, since it's easiest for me. I will run a few 3-4 mx simulator servers, if I can, otherwise I'll stick to 1 or 2 and maybe a teamspeak server. Also if I'd ever need, work as an extra storage space SSH/VPN (?) access to it. Can I run it with the server setup?

Also is there some part that is overkill for my use? About the M/B, is the MSI gaming 5 a good option, or would I get a "just as good on" for less? My intentions is not to overclock. (I want a MSI M/B).

Thanks for any input :p
