I can't see much else to say. I imagine the server PC will be a 24/7 so make sure you get a proper cooler for it or decent case fans to make sure things don't get out of hand. I have mine, which is a i5 2400 (saved it from work in a PC that fried itself) and got it case fans/low profile air cooler which is on 24/7. I have a 60GB SSD for boot and programs which so far has been just enough and mass storage on external USB drives. The 500w may be a little overkill for it but maybe you want a semi modular PSU in which case that makes sense but in any situation, if you can afford a 500w PSU in a 200w system there isn't any reason to deprive it.

Upgrade PC I have no problem with the motherboard. For non-enthusiast there is a shorter list of checkboxes that you want from a board; match color scheme (if you have one), correct number of PCI x16 3.0 lanes for GPU, proper ports on the rear I/O, and proper motherboard heatsinks. For the case, is that your only requirement is that it be white? NZXT, Corsair, Fractal and Enthoo are all brands I'd recommend looking at because I'm a sucker for extremely basic outer shells and super useful inside (Just like my women am I right?). 550w for PSU may be a little close but should still cover it, go bigger if you can. Also, not something I normally recommend but recently just bought $25 fans (seems like alot but hang on) and after about a week they may be the best thing in my computer right now. I can't hear the little shits at all running at under 1000RPM and keep my case as cool as the stock fans, to me personally look way better. You maybe don't have to spend that much but actually experiencing the joy over enthusiast fans is incredible.

Good luck with it.

On the fan side, how big of a deal is it? Currently I have a Cooler Master 310 case with stock fan/fans. Looking on the pictures, there seems like I can attach another fan on the side of case? About the PSU, I thought my 550W was enough for the gaming PC. I had a 600W with blue LED lighting, but when I sent my pc in for a repair, they changed it. Now I got no LED and 550W, fuckers, it was an equivalent they said, as good they said. Would I be better of going with like a 650W(higher?) for the PC and put the 550W in the server? Does it matter really what PSU you have? On a not too enthusiastic scale, more it should work fine scale.

Oh, I meant that the one I was looking at was white lol. This case, but in white. I'm sorry that the page is in Swedish, but I guess that you can tell from the pictures whether it seems like an okay case or not. I have this one as a alternative. It does have a LED thingy. My current PSU hasn't. Maybe the case can make up for it.. Haha yeah, you're right! ;)

Is this a "necessary" thing, that I will gain something on (besides noice), even if I don't overclock, or is it more of an enthusiastic thing only? ;)

The case fan is more of a GPU thing. Its for direct intake on closed air coolers. I recommend just a larger heatsink cooler, doesn't have to be special. Since the CPU isn't rated for 24/7 use be as nice as possible to it and it will give you what you want out of it. The PSU is fine, if its what you have then its what you have, no sense in buying again because it will works without any issue. What they can put on the sticker isn't a guarantee of how much you are getting out of the PSU though so be careful on who you buy it from.

Go with the In Win if those are your choices, the SPEC 01 is a cheap case not worth it from Corsair. I'd prefer the 200R or something if you go cheap with them. The LED is on the fan and it only comes with the 1 intake so you will need to buy all other fans, and you will need more than 1. The In Win doesn't really say what it has but from the pictures it looks like it comes with two. This is how they are able to skimp on pricing, but pushing the fans onto you instead of providing them so make sure you include enough fans in your budget to keep it cool.

Perfect segway for this paragraph. Spending $25 a piece for fans, absolutely not necessary. Never. However, it was something I could do with my budget and its not a tangible improvement. Was it worth it to me, yes but I was explaining what I was doing to my roommate, he looked at me as if I was crazy as he was wearing a $300 watch and holding his watch case that holds 10 other watches. Perfect example. These fans perform better and have more engineering put into them for performance and noise dampening, therefore I can run them at a low speed for the same performance as the old ones. For your case however, just some filler $10 fans may be all you need as a slight humming doesn't bother you like it did to me. In conclusion, you need fans but the price and performance you want out of the fans is up to you.

Speaking of fans, I need to replace the 2 120x38mm Scythe Ultra Kaze fans I have. Sounds like the bearing is going in one of them (I've tried lubing them). Not too bad for having them 4.5 years running on my fan controller. Think I might replace them with 120x25mm's since the middle fan I had on my Phanteks died too, (now it has a blue LED CM fan on it that came with my case because none of my black ones had the right clips) and I want all 3 to be the same (front of heatsink, middle of heatsink, and case exhaust directly after).

Don't feel bad about the price, when I updated my PC I bought 2 Delta 120x25mm 150CFM fans that didn't run at all off my fan controller for some reason (worked on the old fan controller I was replacing, but the heatsinks on it got hella hot when I was testing it). Still have them, $54 of unused fans .

Would I have to go with a completely new heat sink in that case? I think this is a picture of the one I have. As a follow up question, do you have to make sure that the heatsink fits, or is it 1 size fits all?

You've now convinced me to go and buy some new fans! Upon looking at fans, some of the cheapest ones were these ones, although from a Swedish site. Would a few of those be okay? Thinking of filling up pretty much every fan-position there could be.

Filling your case with nothing but LED fans makes it really bright. If it sits on top of your desk I'd recommend a variety so you aren't distracted/blinded. If its under your desk then fill it up. For fans you want to judge by CFM or mmH2O, which judges how much air pressure it creates and moves through, higher the number better the performance. You'll also want to notice dBA rating and RPM. Higher the RPM, the faster the fan spins creating more airflow but also more air noise. Last thing is the connector, the come in 3 pin and 4 pin varieties. 4 pin fans alow for a fan curve, or a range of RPM's to be set by changing the amount of power that goes to the fan. 3 pin is set at the speed, 100%. Nothing wrong or better between the two, just depends on how you use them. 3 pin connectors work on 4 pin connectors, but 4 pins don't work on 3. Make sure you get the correct ones and where they will go.

I think I finally got my build finalized. Got my after school job, so I can finally start saving up to buy this thing. The only things I'm not too sure of is my CPU and GPU, like many other budget PC builders. I think this is the most bang for my buck CPU considering I'll be editing some and doing some PS work, along with REALLY minor CAD work. The GPU is still kind of skeptical for me. I had a hard time choosing between this, and the 770. Seemed better bang for my buck right now, even though the 770 is more expensive. I will eventually add a 240GB SSD to the build, but that's later. What do you guys think?

Games played will include:
Mx Sim (Obviously)
CS:GO
Minecraft
Battlefield 4
DayZ
and some other small titles.

I think it's an OK build, but if you're going to be doing CAD, PS, and all those games, I'd go for something more powerful. The processor looks good, I would personally go with a motherboard that is a bit more powerful, as well as RAM. For the graphics card, that seems to be good. I personally don't know very much about that case, but I do know about the NZXT H440, and it is one of the best mid tower cases out there. You need to think about fans, area for cable management, airflow, etc. The H440 has all of that, and them some. I made a list of parts for what I think would be appropriate for what you're planning on doing with it, but I am fairly new to custom PC's so this could be completely irrelevant to what you're looking to do. Just a heads up, it is a bit more expensive.

I had the processor that you have selected there and I have to say it was probably the worst thing i ever put in my computer, it just sucked all around. The new cpu i selected is the best budget cpu on the market right now and with a budget graphics card the g3258 gets the same frames as an i7 4790k, did i mention its fully unlocked for overclocking as well? If you don't believe me and the name is still throwing you off, go watch some reviews on it, plus it will give you perfect sim performance (my friend has the g3258 and a gtx760, runs amazing). Your memory was decent so i left it as is, i added $5 more for the windforce cooler over the regular one because better cooling. I also picked a better case which gets a little better airflow and is the most recommended and best reviewed budget mid tower on the market right now. Your power supply was also lacking so I added a little more money there for gold efficiency over bronze, to have a modular psu (because non modular sucks for cable management) plus you get 70 more watts. Lastly i selected everything from newegg so that you wont have to pay retarded shipping costs by buying each individual thing from a different store because that would add up to being more than the total of the parts i selected instead. I hope you take my advice on this I've been building pc's for people for 5 years now and I always keep up with whats the newest best thing on the market for gaming at certain price points. You wont regret picking what I chose, I can promise you that :)

But he is not only gaming so the G3258 is a horrible option. With the video editing the extra cores will help out the FX-6300 has 50% higher scores is passmark vs. the g3258. IDK if that is the exact CPU I would pick, 8350 would probably be my choice. In any case a better motherboard is needed to run the 6-8 core AMD chips, its all about VRM phases and cooling. This mobo would be the best budget board for the power hungry FX chips http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 00a1700053.

I guess they redid PC Part Picker, I will have a go with what I think the best build would be after work.
