My brother told me 2 weeks ago that he wants to get into mxs but he dosent have a computer. He is only 14 so saving money for one is kinda hard. So I decided to save some for him and my limit is $500. He just wants to ride with a 20 man gate on normal graphics. I found this pre-built pc here and was wondering if it's a good starting pc. When supercross ends we will probably upgrade some stuff so he can run nationals.

He have Five Guys here, but the market is different. You don't generally go to Whataburger to sit down. Five Guys is really good, though!

GUESS WHERE I'LL BE AT 3:00 FRIDAY AFTERNOON!? 8 FUCKING HOURS FROM MY HOUSE!!! So me and my dad need to share a single set of bars for the entire weekend. I hope our classes are spaced out enough to be able to swap bars over every time we ride, or else it will be a shit show fersherrrrr.
Are there not vendors at the races you go to? Around here, it would be super easy to just buy a set of bars at the race. Merica

Looks like a decent computer to me. I don't know much about NVIDIA graphics cards, though, so I have no idea if a 610 is particularly weak or not.

Fuckin A.
Got a nasty virus on my computer somehow. It was the: "Department of Justice, DOJ Virus" which locks your computer whenever you start it up and doesn't allow you to boot in any sort of safe mode and tells you to pay $300 and yada yada yada and of course I got one of the most evolved forms of it which made in a pain in the arse to deal with. After spending all morning doing research and messing with my PC I ended up using HitmanPro Kickstart on a flashdrive to clean it up, but damn what a mess...

Guess it's time to invest in a real AntiVirus/Malware, was using AVG free while this happened. What would you guys recommend? At this point I'll probably be shelling out the money for Norton but wanted to see if you guys had any other suggestions, thanks.

I personally like Norton. My HP laptop came with a few different subscriptions, so I've been using it on that PC and this one, and it works really well. Haven't had any problems.

Not really. The racing in Canada is really small compared to the US. The money and support that goes into our sport is nothing compared to how it is in the US. Anyways, there will be vendors at this race, but I like a certain bend of bar, and I don't want to risk not being able to get that bend and essentially just throwing away $115.

It's funny, because the race I'm going to is 8 Hours south east of me.... I'm 5-10 mins north of the border. So what does that mean??? YOUR GODDAMNED 'MERICA QUOTE DOESN'T COUNT

Cant you both just ride the same bike?
He rides a 250 and I ride a 350. I weigh considerably more than him (i'm 230, he's 185) so our suspension is completely different. His valving is far to soft for me and mine is far to stiff for him. The only thing thats the same on our bikes as far as setup goes is the bar bend, and bar positioning. We both like the stock KTM/RMZ bend. It just wouldn't be a good idea considering he's hauling the trailer, bikes, etc about 8 hours south of here and he more than likely wants to ride his own bike... :P Same goes for me.

That was pretty solid up until the graphics card. My laptop, which was $500, is about on the same level. RAM, HDD, and a MB are fairly cheap components. They gave you a decent CPU and completely cut corners with the GPU. My PC runs the AMD/nVidia combo and it works really nice. Try building your own and instead see if you can find a GTX 550-570 for a cheap price. I'd imagine that since its older tech it will be cheaper now, and for what you are looking for the PC to do it can handle 20 riders no problem, even the 40 rider gate. I have two 560 2GB but, MXS only uses one so I can vouch for the performance of the 500 series.

Had time to kill. Pieces all together are $360 give or take; CPU, GPU, RAM, MB, PSU. I've checked and its all compatible, promise you it can run the 40 man gates. All thats left is case, HD, and optical drive but that is really personal preference stuff so I'll leave it to you. I didn't factor in any mouse/keyboard with this since the prebuilt didn't have anything extra come with it, once again thought you can get that for maybe $20-30.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130827 - GPU - EVGA GTX650 1GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813130630 - MB - MSI 760GM

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817139027 - PSU - Corsair 500W Modular

Some suggestions and examples on Cases, They're used for holding the PC in a way that makes sense and cooling first, looks second. I'm a simple guy so a black rectangle looks great to me but, I'd say $30-50 should get a functional case.
