Re: Whats your pc?
A good "best bang for your buck" build would be:dylan22 wrote:I just came across this Leader PC and was hoping I could get some advice on it.
CPU: intel core 17-2600 quad core 3.4 ghz with turbo boost
Memory: 8gb ddr-3 1333mhz ram
Hard Drive: 2gb sata hard drive
Optical Drive: LG 10x blu ray combo drive and read/write dvdrw
Monitor: LG ultra slim 23" wide led hdmi
Graphics: 2gb nvidia geforce gt520 16x dedicated graphics
Windows 7 64 bit.
$1,500
All i want it for is gaming.
thanks.
i5 2500k
GTX560Ti (EVGA has lifetime warranty, and that warranty supports OCing, which can make the 560Ti faster than the 570Ti)
Gigabyte Z68 UD3 Mobo
8gb Kingston HyperX 1600 Ram (45$ and its good ram)
1tb Seagate or WD HDD
Asus 24x DVD drive
650w Antec PSU
Zalman Z9 Case (w/variable fan speed)
CoolerMaster 212+ CPU cooler
Win7 home premium (or w/e you would like)
and if you like music in good quality... get a sound card as well.
this setup will run you about 900$, but will be a great PC. Id wait until the next gen graphics cards come out though, because either A: you can get an even better card for the same price, or B: you can get the same card for a lot cheaper. I'm waiting to see the benches for the 7800 series (7870?), because if the card is the same price as the current 6870, and has reasonably better benchmarks, I will purchase that. But if it is just a slightly better card, and is 70-100$ more, it wont be worth it to me.
Of course, if your like me, and are on a budget, you will get a Phenom II 4x 965BE w/Radeon HD 6870, OC'd, and a Gigabyte Ga-990X UD3H board instead of a Z68. That will run a little slower, but is still very competitive and is reasonably cheaper.
Re: Whats your pc?
Well of course I'd like to spend least money as possible but with this it's all there and ready to go. I have no clue what i"m doing buying seperate parts and stuff. I've only ever had laptops.

Re: Whats your pc?
Regardless whether you go for the best bang for your buck or the best money can buy route, you're going to want an SSD harddrive next to the 2TB one. Keep the 2TB one as storage for music, movies etc and use an SSD for windows' installation and games. SSDs are way faster than regular HDDs but 'cause of their storage capacity and price they're not suitable as a large storage drive.

Those who possess strength have also known adversity.

Re: Whats your pc?
Go on Newegg and search around, some of the deals are just great. Can get all of this for 1200, most likely my Christmas present.
Cooler Master Mid Tower case (red LEDs!!!)
Seagate 500GB 7200RPM SATA 6.0GB/s 3.5" internal hard drive
Hanns-G 21.5" LED Monitor Full HD 15,000,000:1 (widescreen)
Gigabyte AM3+ AMD 9700 SATA 6GB/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support graphics card
Cooler Master 550W power supply
Microsoft Sidewinder X4 keyboard
Kensington Pro Fit Full Sized mouse
Logitech mic
G.SKILL 8GB (2x4GB) memory
AMD 3.3GHz AM3+ 95W 6-Core processor
Windows 7 Home Premium

Plan on either getting a 19" square monitor later or maybe an 18.5" widescreen to go duals. What would you guys suggest? And please don't hesitate to help me out, I'd love to save some money and get better stuff!

Re: Whats your pc?
Bit the bullet and went for it before the sales ended at NCIX.
-AMD Phenom II 965BlackEdition X4 3.4ghz CPU
-Gigabyte GA-990XA UD3 Mobo
-Kingston HyperX blue series 8gb (2x4gb) 1600 Ram
-XFX Radeon HD6870 1gb GPU
-Zalman Z9+ Case w/fan controller + temp display
-Hitachi Deskstar 7k1000.c 500gb SATA2 HDD
-Antec TruePower New 550w Modular PSU
-LG 24x Lightscribe SATA Optical drive
-Logitec MX518 1800DPI mouse
-Win7 home premium (gift from parents $0)
after Tax, shipping, and shipping insurance, This came to $887.84
I think this should do fairly well. I will OC the CPU to 3.8-4.0 gHz, as I hear the Phenom II's run really cool, even on air.
