I have a question for you fellow tech savvy people. Some of you may have seen that I've been working on a way to play sim on your phone. To do that I need a 5ghz band to connect my phone to. The last few days I've been having a lot of trouble connecting to it and the problem started occurring on my 2.4ghz band. I figured it may have been a tweak I installed from cydia so I deleted all of my tweaks but the problem persisted.So now my phone is near stock and all my other devices connect just fine. I downloaded a tweak called wifried that disabled AWDL but that didn't seem to work either and now my wifi switch is grayed out and won't even turn on at all. . So I was wondering if you think my wifi module is dead or maybe it's a software issue? Replacing the module will be easy but extremely inconvenient and restoring my phone back to stock, restricted iOS would be painful for me. Personally I think it's the wifi module but I'm just looking for a second opinion hopefully avoiding the restore and losing out on an awesome jailbreak.

I'm going to be getting a new GPU, but I'm stuck between the MSI GTX980 or the MSI Radeon R9 390X. The 390X is said to be the "same" as a 980Ti, but they run louder and hotter. What is your recommendation? 980 or 390x?

GPUBoss is pretty close to asking your grandmother her opinions on GPU's. Digital Foundry is one of my favorites for benchmark comparisons.



If you have money burning, buy a fire extinguisher and get the first round of HBM2 cards. The rumors flying around about them that even if half are true they will be far better cards. If they aren't well then you have discounted current gen cards.

So took out the wifi module and stuck it in the oven for 15 minutes to melt the solder and put it back in my phone. Only getting 50 down on the 5ghz band which is okay for my phone I guess but getting 130 down on my MBP and 140 through Ethernet on my gaming PC. Hopefully it will last a week more so I can get a new module.

Anyone use a Password Manager? Curious on what your experiences are, trying out LastPass now but IDK its a little clunky TBH.

Where I work we are currently using the paid version of the network password manager "Crypt-O" which seems to be one of the more secure solutions out there. Unfortunately the usability and especially the search function is pretty lacking if you compare it to other managers like LastPass or KeePass.

While being in the early stages of launching my own business I'm also looking for a secure option to store my passwords at. Currently I'm trying out KeePass and I'm really liking it so far.

Yea, I'm just trying to figure out the amount of hassle I want to go through vs. the security that I require. LastPas has allowed me to use 12 character passwords with 3 types of characters that are only used on one site. If you compare that to everything using 1 of 4 passwords before that is a serious improvement with minimal intrusion.

I really need browser integration, I am not willing to go beyond that level of access so I think KeePass is out for that reason.

LastPass may not be perfect, if they got hacked that would suck but I do have 2 factor authentication setup so that gives me a little piece of mind.

This was my weekend project. Took a lot longer than I anticipated. And to top it all off, I used up all of the 100' roll of sleeving I ordered and have 7 cables left... Grrrrr. I love the look of it, though!
