Incredible, Team France, especially Paulin were just from another planet this weekend. Hat's off for them.
Funny aswell how for the 2nd year in a row the team wins where the team manager got a shitload of critism over himself because of an surprisingly selection.
Sucks to see Simpson DNF'ing with an broken chain though, he and Great Britain would have deserved to be on the podium.
Also major respect for Eli Tomac, the comeback he made and the speed he developed was impressive.

Re: 2014 MXDN
And here we heard all summer long that France was screwed because they didn't pick 3 of their 4 best riders. Good for them.

Re: 2014 MXDN
Martin got only an average 11 - 13, that's only 2 points less than our own Belgian, Julien Lieber who finished 11th in the world championship
Tomac's first moto was just a 6th coming back from 12th (he couldn't even get by Noren & got beaten by Searle on his MX2)
Dungey got a 2nd in his first moto (lowest score of the team)
With these results they were already 6 points back (drop result excluded) before the 3th moto started.
Yes in the 3th moto the comeback of Tomac was way more impressive, but that 6th in his first moto is in my opinion as bad as Dungeys charge from last to 11th.
It is an team event and the whole American squad didn't performed as expected and even if they did, France was just on it
.
And nope, I am not a Dungey fan (I'll never be a fan of an American rider
) but numbers don't lie.

Re: 2014 MXDN
From watching the AMA series over TV and MXGP over TV + some races in real life, I always tought that Americans were sooooo much faster, then went to Latvia and saw that they were actualy not that fast lol. Tomacs 2nd race was super impressive tho, Martin had that crash, but when he crashed he was only 6th or 7th and wasn't even close to the top 5. Ryans Dungens had good 1st moto but bad start 2nd moto and didn't manage to put down impressive ride. All on all, still think Euorpeans are better overal, doesn't matter what kind of soil it is, good riders perform everywhere. And if it wasn't for Simpsons broken chain, don't think USA would have even been on the box.

At least when we win were pretty much humble about for the most part... I get it, the US is always the target because we have been the dominant force for how many years and now that we have had 3 bad years at one race we all of a sudden aren't as good as Europeans overall. Wonder what the pile of excuses everyone will come up with (like always) when the US regains the top step?
Never understood the whole nationality thing in racing anyways. The nation does not have any part in the racer being fast, that's all on the rider. Yes they are representing a country and it's good to have pride in your country but too classify a bunch of riders better than another bunch of riders just solely based on where they live is plain ignorant.

Re: 2014 MXDN
Yea. All the GP riders that have come to the USA the past few years have really blown all of the Americans doors off.
Before you go all Roczen on me remember that Roczen is the exception to the rule, not the standard.
They're all fast, it doesn't matter what series they race.
