I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

Alright, I know this the complete WRONG forum to ask this question, but I just don't want to make a new account to ask one question haha.

Is this game supposed to be like MXS where you download what you want? But can't see it ingame? I think it's pretty flipping homo that you don't get a full game. It's just like MXS, but here in MXS you don't have to pay for bikes, tracks, etc. They are going to make a 39.99 dollar game that you'll end up investing 100's of dollars into? Pointless.

Checkerz, please correct me if I am wrong.

The marketing strategy for "Alive" is that the base game cost is reduced (I don't know the price, I'd guess 30 bucks), then you pay for additional content that gets released.

That's why they are calling it "alive" - it is going to grow over time (as if it was alive).

Google search for some info on it. They think they are creating a new sales model for video games with "Alive". I don't hardly think the game has the market share to accomplish something like that - but I also don't know what I am talking about

Games already do that though. CoD series is a good example. Release it, add to it, add some more, release a new title and repeat.

watch alive is going to have like 4 or 5 tracks thats it. and then theyre going to release dlc content to try and rape our wallets. not mine though. the only way ill buy this game is if it has a good amount of tracks like reflex and some damn good freeride maps. because if the game dosent have freeride im not buying period.

I just really wish they made replicas. It'd be sick to ride on a replica. Or a place like glamis or ocotillo wells for freeride.

((tip toeing into this discussion))

*disclaimer: this is not a sales pitch or trying to convince anyone to buy the game, I am merely stating facts that I am allowed to share. Please don't turn this into a "MXS vs MVA or MVA is good or bad deal." Just want to share facts with those who are asking.

Alive is a full featured game - there is as much, probably way more, content that you would expect to see in a 60 dollar game. It is far from "here are 4 tracks, go buy stuff". I can't comment on numbers yet, but as Danny Bilson stated in his interview, we pulled data from what people played in Reflex, and are offering our consumers MORE of what they played in the past.

The price point being lower is to get the game in more people's hands and to allow consumers to expand their game in the areas that they care about.

There is a HUGE schedule of DLC releases covering tons of categories. There are many FREE releases as well as paid releases.

This business model is an experiment, it's never been done like this before, so we don't know how it'll turn out... but judging from the responses from the people who have seen the full plan drawn out, it looks to be pretty positive from a consumer standpoint... and if our consumers are happy, we'll be happy.

Sounds interesting,

I was playing Unleashed with my 7 year old nephew the other day, and i admit, it was really fun. The floaty physics are still a bit much, but going wide open on the outdoor tracks was a blast.

And the visuals were great, even on the Playstation 2. Track designs and environments were awesome (although, the outdoor tracks are wayyy to supercrossy and over the top.)

It lead me to this question, what went wrong? The jump from Unleashed to Untamed left me speechless. "WTF happened?"

Went from fun floaty loose physics, to stiff rigid and ugly. Reflex was more of the same. Why did Rainbow abandon the Unleashed physics model? I think it had a lot of potential.

Rainbow tried too hard to make the games look pretty and lost sight of what made Unleashed so popular. Go back to the roots! Give us a track editor! And a good replay mode!

I can't argue it a bit. Sometimes you get so close to something that you don't realize its short-comings, and realize you've strayed from some of your roots. We spent a lot of time and focus on ensuring the gameplay base was fun and solid - the addicting gameplay that brought so many people to the franchise - and made sure we nailed that this time.

They weren't terrible, but they were missing some key things that really detracted from the fun factor and caused a lot of inconsistencies.
