Re: MX "IS" the hardest sport on the planet
Motocross is as hard as you make it to be and the difficulty of the sport is measured by the amount of effort you put in towards the goal you want to reach.
When I stay at ClubMX Training Facility during the year, I wake up and eat breakfast at 7:00a (used to be 6:30a on the schedule). My group (I am usually in group A) starts warm ups around 8:00a or 11:00a, depending on what day it is. Low intensity spinning, running or rowing for 30 minutes. After that, gear up and get ready to go riding from 8:30-9:00a or 11:30-etc. Make sure my bike is 100% good and ready to go for my training. I get 5 minutes to warm up, which usually just ends up being 1 or 2 laps. Monday is motos, everyone gets different moto times. The pros get 30 or 35 minutes +2, B riders get 20 or 25 minutes (I get 25), everyone else gets 20. Depending on the day, we get 2-3 motos a day. Some days are different then others in South Carolina. Some days its perfect weather, some its 90-100'+, some days the tracks good, some its dry, wet, etc.Tuesday, is intervals. We do 1, 2, 3 and 4 lap all out, everything you got, 100% sprints. We go 1-1-1-1-one/twominutebreak-2-2-2-2-one/twominutebreak-3-3-3-3-one/twominutebreak-4-4-4-4. We don't always follow that exact same schedule, but we try to keep it close. Its still harder then fuck either way. In motos and intervals, if your laptimes fall below a certain point, you are forced to do suicides, in your gear, as punishment. If anyone still has some strength left in them, we work sections. Wednesday is team races, Thursday motos, Friday intervals, Saturday is just optional free riding, Sunday is free.
When we are done riding, we have 4 hours of free time before we do our mandatory work outs. We can do our workouts during our free time if we want, instead of doing them later. But usually, that 4 hours is your time to rest, eat, clean and work on your bikes. Workouts are usually high intensity in the spring/summer and strength routines in the winter. Depending on what we are all trying to accomplish as athletes in our workouts, we have different programs. Some days, we are doing 10 mile runs in the boiling heat with no water and nobody to pick you up if you're left behind. Some, we are doing core workouts and nearly killing ourselves. Every day you complete a high intensity workout, your next day is a recovery day, where you do low intensity stuff. 6:00p is dinner, after that, your evening is all free time. If you haven't done your bike work or haven't got it ready for the next day, now is your time. 10:00p is lights out and ready to start another day. 6 days of riding, 5 of training. Don't forget if you go racing. Some days are harder/easier then others, but when you feel dead tired. I mean dead tired, you go to bed at 10:00p and do it all over again. Every. Single. Day.
I dedicate my life to this sport. I don't have time for public school anymore. My family has sacrificed a lot financially and I sacrificed my chance of living a normal life as a kid. Of course I am going to think motocross is hard. But somebody will/won't see it that way. It just depends on the person. I guarantee you, ask any Olympian athlete and they will tell you that what they do is the hardest thing in the world. Someone will disagree with them, because they will judge something based on their own effort. A lot of kids who think motocross is easy has either never ridden something faster then an XR, never ridden further then their driveway, or has never nearly gone fast enough to actually compete with other racers. Don't even get me started with school kids. They will never understand anything because they are spoiled rotten and never have the consideration to think something beside school athletics is somewhat difficult. All the ones who say "just twist the throttle", have obviously no idea what the fuck they are talking about. They have never tried it (no matter what they say) and probably never will due to their parents not having enough money to buy them a bike.

Like I've said before, Its all relative. Any moron can ride a dirt bike, It's not difficult. Its just when you start riding at higher levels it becomes difficult.
That can be said with any sport really. Football, Soccer, hula hooping...whatever, It just depends on what level you compete at.
I guess the argument could be made that Motocross is one of the most physically demanding sports at the professional level.
I've long since givin up trying to become fast, I just ride for fun now and then. Thinking about taking up golf. Least with that I wont be sore for a week afterwards...
I have never done anything that makes me as sore as riding a dirt bike around a track for 4 hours. Take that for whats its worth. Lol

Re: MX "IS" the hardest sport on the planet
k ive played alot of sports at a rep level and motocross is the most phsyically demanding because all the other ball or puck sports dont have as much Gforce on you body... motocross is a fast pace sport too so that amount of concentration that is needed is way more then lets say hockey( ive played at a double A team with kids that are in the Nhl now so i can say this)and motocross has the most fear... when you get hit in hockey you feel the pain right after but when you fall in motocross you get up and try ride again but to realize you body is acting weird then you mind says shit pain, if you dont think this is true watch some yt videos of broken legs where the guy gets up to realize he cant stand on the other leg. so is ignorant to say that motocross at every aspect as a whole is more physical then every other main stream sport... and its true the more you progress in the sport the harder and more physical it gets but motocross is way harder on you body at an early skill level. also motocross is a high concussion sport where you knees and joints dont last long thats why the youngest to ever win a motocross championship was only 27adhkcrfhonda wrote:This thread is retarded. It all depends on what sport YOU do that is the hardest for you. Its one of those never ending circle arguments. As a professional downhill mtn bike racer, i can say that a hard race run is super physically demanding unlike the average person thinks. The whole race weekend is super tiring. But then again, moto is way longer and super tough. ive played hockey, also super tough. It all depends. Yes moto is hard, but any top level athletes are extremely fit. Its all very similar

Re: MX "IS" the hardest sport on the planet
People's ignorance makes me so sick. How people "LOL" at the idea that Motocross is more demanding than soccer or even something like tennis.
Maybe "Riding a dirt bike in a parking lot" isn't as demanding, but not even professional motocross, "competitive" motocross racing is more demanding than soccer.
Story time
I did sugar coat myself a little but, BUT, my girlfriends little sister was getting ready for dinner for her soccer game tomorrow and I mentioned pasta and chicken and she said "You're not supposed to eat pasta and chicken before you work out" and I said uhhh yes you are it's like the best thing you can eat before a game and she said "How do you know?" and I bullshitted her a little bit but I said "Because I was an athlete" and she said "HAHAHA you rode a dirt bike you sat on a bike and tried not to fall off" Then her mom continued to say my opinion is valid BECAUSE if a SPELLING BEE can be considered a sport then she "guesses" that Motocross can be too. Then I said there was a statistic that said motocross is more physically demanding than professional mens soccer (Soccer family) and she laughed in my face and told me to please bring that up (Which I can't find ANYWHERE ) But really.. I can guarentee you that Ryan Dungey or Ryan Villopoto trains just as hard or harder than any professional soccer player, and racing 35+ minutes twice in one day in 100 degree weather with full gear on on a 200+ lbs motorcycle on a rough ass track with your heart rate maxed out is fucking unbelievable. The ignorance of some people is beyond comprehension.

Re: MX "IS" the hardest sport on the planet
The thing is even if you did get them out on a track, it wouldn't be physically demanding for them because they would just roll around, not using any energy. So even by them doing it, they can't see how it is actually very tiring.

Re: MX "IS" the hardest sport on the planet
a good example of that is langston when he broke his leg in the last turn about to win. broke his right leg, and stood up on it throwing he left leg over the bike. then you can see him looking down at it going over the finish... it was sideways. hahaMaczust63 wrote:if you dont think this is true watch some yt videos of broken legs where the guy gets up to realize he cant stand on the other leg.

o for the soccer players you ever heard of a kidney belt because i didnt wear one on the local sand track and i pissed blood once
Re: MX "IS" the hardest sport on the planet
I'm at pretty low level, but when I got transfered to B class, I gotta ride longer motos now, with a higher level riders and stuff. It is unbelievable how hard you have to work to at least be on the podium.. If you really think about it, it is a super tough, risky sport. I can't even imagine what pros are doing to make themselfs at that level.
Dunno why, but so many people see it like just sit there and twist the throttle.. They would fucking wreck themselfs in one lap lol.
