I cycled part of the 1st stage of the 2014 Tour de France today...in England. Did about 38 miles on the stage and then another 6 to get back to my car. There was an absolutely brutal head wind for half the ride which was fucking annoying and the climb you can see in the elevation profile was pretty tough as well, it gets as steep as 1 in 5 near the top. Strava reckons I reached 55mph heading down the other side which is not bad for a twisty road on a sketchy little road bike. I don't even want to imagine what would happen if I fell off at that speed in my lycra!

Errr Lycra. I'll stick to my downhill shorts. However, I suck when it comes to riding against wind or uphill, I just give up and sit there until I end up pushing my bike the rest of the way... Then have a 40 minute break whilst telling my mates how shit the ride out is and moaning about how long it takes to get to the downhill trails. Have you tried riding a downhill bike uphill though? Tough shit, I guess the clues in the name though.

I like riding up hills but I hate riding into a head wind. It completely fucks you over, your eyes and your brain are telling you that this section of road is easy but your legs are working twice as hard as they should be to maintain any kind of speed because the wind is constantly slowing you down. I would much rather ride in the pouring rain than into a head wind.

I hate it when that happens, in the woods near me there's a slight uphill but it's in the open, like not many trees and the win there is ridiculous. Like you said, you're peddling and you're brains thinking "c'mon stop being a nob, just get up the hill" but you're legs are like "yeah, fuck off mate".
I've never rode a road bike, always just stuck to downhill, free ride and enduro bikes, besides motocross.

I'm buying the old man a external hard drive for movies etc. and someone told him don't get one too big (2tb) because if it's too big the movies lose quality. Is this bloke smoking crack or what? It's just a storage device how can it's size change the quality of what's on it.
