Post Hardcore, Metalcore, etc

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

Post Hardcore, Metalcore, etc

Post by KTM57 »

So, who listens to post hardcore and metalcore? I find that there are a lot more people who listen to it than you might suspect. Hopefully we can get some good music sharing and discussion going.
I'll start with a few of my personal favorites.

Post hardcore:

This album is just something awesome. This DGD lineup is by far the best; Jon Mess's screams go so great with Jonny Craig's cleans. I could listen to it all day.

This is the song that got me into the genre. Ronnie has crashed and burned, but there's no denying his vocal talent.

La Dispute is a grower, not a shower, but their lyrics are incredibly powerful, and the sound is something way different from anything else.

Metalcore:

Dream on Dreamer is one of my favorites. The heaviness, great screams, and perfect amount of electronic elements make this song something worth listening to.

Got into Gwen Stacy a few months ago and have been jamming this album ever since.

Everyone in the genre loves TDWP.

I listen to a lot of Hardcore, its hard a lot of the time to divide a small genre up to even smaller bits...At least for me. Most of the stuff I listen to is older, back before the genre went mainstream and bands I used to see at a small venue of less than a two hundred people started playing festivals and huge venues. Some of these bands are about as tight, timing wise, as any other musicians on the planet that is what really makes me love the genre.

Best show I have ever seen was:
Underoath
Norma Jean
Haste the day
Dead Poetic
Beloved

Funny as hell, for some reason hardcore scene in this area never liked circle pits so whenever a band requested one everyone would just stand there and do nothing haha. Oh man, those were the days.

It's dizzying how many sub-genres have come about just from rock, punk and heavy metal since the '70's. It's become so sub-categorized that they'll have to micro-sub-categorize. I feel sooo old when I listen to these bands and, of course, think they all sound the same. Music is fun to explore fo real. YouTube The Dregs. Tight.

Yeah, sounds pretty solid!

Emarosa also picked up a new vocalist to replace him, and their new song is also really good.

I don't really stay up to date with any of the up and coming bands, but I still have a lot of this type of music on my phone from when I used to listen to it all the time. Still love when it comes on shuffle. These are some of my favorites

And they aren't really "post hardscore", but The Story so Far is my favorite band. Maybe some of you like them too
