Weston Peick on RCH? Good luck to him! Looking forward to seeing how he does with full support.

Villopoto out with "knee injury", more like "knows he cant win without blood doping"...

He has people up his ass 24/7 you think Aldan and him would of made a mistake by now about this whole blood doping thing, honestly as long as it's not drugs I don't really care, he is just using his own body to his own advantage. Blood doping or not, the dude is the fastest out there. If he is blood doping Kenny and Adam must be too.

It was a rumor last year and it was even talked about with RV on the pulpmx show. Obviously he denied it and even challenged anyone that doesnt believe him. I think it was $100k you had to put up for him to take a test. You dont think Lance had alot of people surrounding him? How long did that go on? Kenny and Adam came in after the fact, I dont believe they necessarily would be doping as well.
I also think its weird that Reed said something about how he thinks this is great and itll keep it fair. Why would he say something like that if he didnt suspect someone doing it?
On the flip side, people are assuming that RVs domination these past few weeks would show that there is no knee problem. But remember JS rode all year last year with a bad knee. Unless he was lying too.

I agree. As RV has shown he doesn't have much love for the industry or sport right now either, if it meant getting your knee repaired to prevent future problems in life or racing nationals when really you just want a break which would you pick?

Reed can also suspect anything he wants but unless he knows factually then he is no better then the bench racers. What I don't understand is how it is really considered "cheating" it's not drugs or any enhancers you are just using your own body to better improve your performance. Is there any rule in the book about it?

I just can't stand when your local weekend warrior is trying to downgrade arguably the fastest guy on a dirt bike right now, saying he would not win because of something that 1. Hasn't been proven and 2. It's not necessarily cheating. (in my eyes, unless there is something in the rule book that I didn't see).

According to Wikipedia, it's often done with different drugs. It's certainly not going to make the same impact as use of anabolic steroids, but it obviously is going to make a big difference if you're boosting your body's ability to carry oxygen. A major anti-doping organization just became affiliated with the AMA, so I think it's safe to say that it's illegal.

Wikipedia article, which is pretty interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_doping

I never knew about any methods other than transfusion. I had heard about Olympic cycling teams training at altitude and then storing blood for transfusion at a later date, but wasn't aware that it could be done with drugs or with blood substitutes.

I personally feel like it's slimy to do something like doping in a sport where physical condition is so important, but I'm sure that we can all agree that it wouldn't affect a rider's raw speed (unless you start to think about how one could practice for a longer time and more efficiently).

This x100. As far as the blood doping thing goes, I don't think it affects raw speed, like August said. RV is one of the fastest guys, if not the fastest guy, on the track each and every weekend. The only thing blood doping would affect is his ability to go for 30+2 twice, but the training those guys go through should be enough in itself. Just look at Baggett outdoors in 2012. Was he doping? We may never know, but all of those guys can go all out for 30+2 no problem. I'm not sure how major the effect of doping would be on top of that amount of training.

I did a little search just to see why Aldon is linked with Blood doping. What I found in the first page was nothing but bench racers other than one link that lead me to Racer X Trainer. They did an interview with Aldon and Baggett about his mx championship and blood doping came up. Aldon said he thought there needed to be more aggressive tests for racing. Either he was aging the AMA on or he really has nothing to hide with his riders.

I find it to be really ridiculous when people are willing to go to lengths of tearing a racer's accomplishments apart by making acquisitions that have not been proven, all because their favorite rider didn't win.

August, I was not aware it could be done with other drugs either. The way RV made it sound a year ago or so is that they can come at you at any time and test you, and they would. I don't know, if one is doing it and another knew about it, they wouldn't allow them to cheat for this long, so either they started doing it also to stay competitive or they just don't know factually. If they want to start leveling the playing field start limiting the bikes, we all know that is a big part in a sport also, along side physical condition and just raw speed. It's evident the factory bikes are 100x better than anything a privateer could dream of and the factory's have tricks for every test they put on the bikes. Like their "magic buttons" for sound testing.

I have heard of the sound limiters (and also that some bikes have motion sensors that will restrict the motor when the bike is not moving) and they are definitely something that need to be checked out and policed. Seems like everyone in the pits knows and nobody has made enough noise (heh) about the issue.

I don't really think the bikes should be limited because that could potentially retard the progression of production bikes as well, but factory 250 riders have a huge advantage on starts for sure. It's not that big a deal to me because I believe that the riders who have rocketship bikes are a lot faster than the privateers anyway, but I can see how it could be an issue to others.

Blood doping is a much bigger issue in my eyes since it is potentially dangerous.
“There are a few pretty substantial risks,” says Dr. Philip Friere Skiba, program director of sports medicine at Lutheran General Hospital. The most common is a blood clot that can lead to heart attack, stroke, or even sudden death in your sleep. “Increasing the blood count makes it more viscous,” says Skiba. “We call this ‘sludging,’ which can slow down your heart rate and cause clots.” To avoid the so-called sludging, you have to keep that heart pumping. There are stories of some doping athletes waking up in the middle of the night and doing jumping jacks to keep it moving. Others, at least anecdotally, weren’t so lucky, dying in their sleep.
. . .we’ll turn to genetic tinkering for more oxygen. One study showed that by imparting such genes to monkeys, researchers could permanently up the amount of EPO that their bodies created. The problem for these unfortunate animals was the runaway blood cells caused their bodies to turn on the EPO hormone and fight it like a virus. The monkeys eventually died of anemia (or lack of red blood cells).
Certainly we don't want the sport to get to a point where riders deem it necessary to dope in order to be competitive.

I think you guys forget one big name though, Eli Tomac. I think he is a much better national rider then supercross. Sucks that he is most likely out for the first and maybe more rounds ..

If you guys remember in 2012, SX RV and Reed were selected for a strict drug testing program. I forget what it's called, but the AMA selects 2 top riders every year and has them regularly tested for blood doping. Both RV and Reed were clean the whole year.
