I would, except for working at BestBuy and meeting the NVIDIA rep, I got both cards for $100. I wasn't gonna have it any other way haha.Cobra wrote:reading errror, my bad

Re: Whats your pc?
I got like 400$ saved up, and if I need to I can most likely get some more, but I'm looking to get a decent PC going for around this price. Should I build? Ill be playing MXsim and BF3 mainly.
After doin some research, found this deal on Walmarts site and it looks pretty solid.
Should I avoid a pre-built? Ive never built a PC myself, but Im definiltly more than capable if it were in front of me with the right documentation.
Any ideas?

Looked up to see if the X4 would play bf3, and it looks like it will. Only thing I'm going to need is a graphics card right?Acer Black AX1420G-U5832 Desktop PC with AMD Athlon II X4 Quad-Core 645 Processor, 1TB Hard Drive and Windows 7 Home Premium

But would this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBund ... mbo.810610) be better than this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBund ... mbo.815896)
Obviously its whether I want AMD or Intel, but which is better and why? Also, it looks like the case included in the AMD combo is lots better than the Intel one.

Re: Whats your pc?
keep saving. it will be worth the wait! I should have waited another month to build mine. I wanted an i5 2500k and a GTX570 but I was 200 short. I ended up getting an AMD Phenom II X4 965BE and an XGX 6870. Still runs great, but its lacking on the GPU (I can play BF3 on ultra, but only @ 40FPS as opposed to the solid 60 I get on high). Also, AMD products tend to run a hot compared to Intel. Like I said, wait it out, its worth the wait.
Re: Whats your pc?
Damn, see id be pumped if I can run BF3 on High for 450$.. I dont need Ultra.Ballsfalsky wrote:keep saving. it will be worth the wait! I should have waited another month to build mine. Re: Whats your pc?
Thats not a 2500k. The difference between the i5-2500 and the i5-2500k is that the 2500k has an unlocked muliplier, making it MUCH more overclockable. The i5-2500k is a MONSTER!
No, thats not all you would need. You would still need an OS, and a bigger case.
Heres what I would save for.
i5 2500k: http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=57962& ... ture=Intel
EVGA 560 Ti (lifetime warranty): http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=65860& ... omoid=1067
Gigabte z68 UD3: http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=61002& ... e=Gigabyte
Kingston 8gb hyperX ram: http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=57869& ... omoid=1130
Zalman Z9 case (I have this case, its good for the price. Big and lots of fans stock): http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=57910& ... omoid=1130
Optical drive: http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=60680& ... lectronics
Power supply: http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=59617& ... acture=XFX
Total cost (after canadian tax (12%)): $1047.2CAD. And then shipping etc. And then you need win7 64-bit (I would buy it from your local electronics store).

Re: Whats your pc?
and if you plan on OCing the CPU, you will want to look into a different CPU cooler. I would recommend one of those huge noctua coolers they run around $100.
Re: Whats your pc?
Personally, I'd recommend this CPU. I've had no troubles with it, no lag in MXS on pretty much maxed settings, BF3 on high (haven't even tried ultra), MW3 on max, and Skyrim on Ultra. Part of that might also be attributed to my graphics card, but games are going to benefit from a good processor as well. The i5 2500k quad core is 3.3 GHz and runs 3.7 turbo, so it's not much of a difference except for about 100 bucks. Don't let NVIDIA fanboys tell you that ATI sucks, either, because I have 0 problems and will continue to use ATI.

Re: Whats your pc?
Personally I think ATI is a cheaper Geforce but slight to no difference in performance, same could be said for Intel and AMD processors.
Keep in mind this is IMO.

Re: Whats your pc?
Did you not see what I had written? I said I wanted to stay around the 400--maybe 600 range. Your building me a beast of a computer, I dont need that. I have my MacBook Pro for Video Editing, Photoshop work, etc. I only need a PC thats going to handle BF3 and MXsim pretty well. Dont need Ultra, OCing, nothing crazy man. (http://lifehacker.com/5840963/the-best- ... 0-and-1200) That looks pretty solid for 600 right? Give and take a few items...Ballsfalsky wrote:Thats not a 2500k. Appreicate the help KTM! Ive actually been looking into the ATI processors and they look promising. The one deal I posted above, from Newegg, looks legit eh?KTM57 wrote:Personally, I'd recommend this CPU. Re: Whats your pc?
My system is all AMD. Go look @ benchamarks. Theres more than just clock speeds involved with processors. My 965BE is 3.4gHz and the 3.3gHz i5 is quite a bit faster at everything in all of the reviews.KTM57 wrote:Personally, I'd recommend this CPU. If your going with the FX 4100 zambie, Id go with this combo! http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBund ... mbo.791295. All you will need is an OS!

DP: This one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBund ... mbo.810610
8GB memory, 500GB HDD which I can upgrade..
and the AMD FX-8120 Zambezi 3.1GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor.. 8 core
It looks pretty promising...even the case comes with 3 fans inside

Re: Whats your pc?
you dont really need anything more than a quad core for gaming. No games support more than 4 cores as of yet. The more cores, the better as far as rendering goes.
