Whats your pc?

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

Race, I must’ve caught the mobo in something taking it out/putting it in and it knocked off a couple of resistors on the motherboard.
Why not just solder them back in?

if you are going to do a build like that you might as well go all out and get the 9900k.

Ya ya ya I know the reviews arent 10/10 but the 8700k is discountinued, you might as well get a new chip instead of one at the end of its life cycle.

As someone with the X62 cooler, I'd just get the 240mm cooler if I had to do it again. There isn't really any benefit over the x52 other than using 140mm fans. The temps are roughly the same and the 240 has way better case compatibility. Also, not sure if you are just going with a theme with NZXT but I'd also suggest the P350X. Not that there is anything wrong at all with the H500 as I loved the S340 it's replacing. Also, I'd get a better monitor even if that means only getting one. Getting an i7 and 1070Ti to run at 1080p 75Hz is a waste because your 980 could easily do that.

I can’t find them and I’m not sure if I ruined anything else by powering it up with them missing. Here’s a photo. I’d like to just repair it if I could but I only have a basic soldering iron, so it might be difficult.

I’m not sure what exactly the two parts are, resistors, fuses etc. but I know they are the same as the two orangeish things next to where they were.

When it comes to performance, is the 9900k, which is $170 more than the 8700k, really worth it?

Yeah, I saw some reviews saying the exact same, but for an extra $8ish, I thought, "why not". And yes, I am going with an NZXT themed build just because I like their CAM software and RGB compatibility.

I really wanted to have 2 monitors because I do use them for when I'm doing graphic design stuff, or have discord on one and my game on the other. Would you recommend 1440?

The ASUS MG279 is the one I have, 1440p and 144Hz. Then get a 1080p IPS screen for like $120 or so for a second monitor. Fair with the case and things, the H500 is still a really good case just wanted to show some options.

It's a shame you lost the parts. That surface mount stuff is hard to identify. There's a decent chance that running it like that didn't do any damage. Bad connections are usually not harmful like a short circuit would be.

If you can find any numbers on them try searching for it on digikey.com. If you're lucky you'll be able to fix it for 50 cents in parts.

I'm not the smartest with PC's, but if you're going to build that rig and only run a 75Hz monitor (2 of them at that) you'd lose on a lot of visual capabilities it can produce. You can get essentially the same monitor but at a higher frequency for a few dollars more to run your main screen at while the other is lower and they'd match up great on a desk. My $0.02

For sure.

I got around to testing the cpu and it was fine so I just sold that to help with the cost of new parts. Put the damaged motherboard on eBay listed for parts, maybe I can get a few bucks out of it. Got a Z170 board and a 6600k. Should be here by the end of the week.

just saying that without the super gamer-y RGB keyboard, fans, and lighting you could get a significant upgrade in your monitors, GPU, ram, or even a HMD. If you want your shiny unicorn barf over those, then, by all means, have it.
