Whats your pc?

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

REALISTICALLY, what could I get for selling this build? I just got a hot deal on some Ryzen stuff on Black Friday, and I'm putting the FX in the closet. Probably going to get a 1070 with the money I get from this build.

I was thinking $500? Is that too much?

Hope no one has an mSI Z170 SLI plus mine just went after 2 years. Now my PC will not even boot looks like I'm shopping for a new mobo.

Why not just do a warranty claim? My NZXT Kraken pump just died after two years but I wouldn't call all of them a bad product now.

Looks like they only warranty 12 months after date of manufacture.

Just got the new board in another mSI. This time I went with the Z270-A Pro figured I might as well get the newer chipset for the m.2 boost. Does anyone else recommend getting the bracket to hold the newer larger graphics card? Sucks you have to buy it seperate, but it does not seem like a bad idea even though the PCI slot is reinforced with metal.

That metal is just a visual, most of the strength is still coming from the plastic not the aluminum sheet that molded around it. I'm not aware of a bracket for the new cards. I wouldn't imagine it being worth much for a 2 slot card, maybe a 3 slot would need it. I know MNPC Tech makes some anti-sag brackets but not heard of a board partner or Nvidia brand one.

Alright guys, I have a question that’s absolutely killing me.

I just upgraded my system. Ryzen 5 1600, Gigabyte GA-AX370-Gaming Mobo. I had my 970 in there while I was waiting for my 1070 to arrive from a friend.

I have 2 PCIE x16 length slots. One operates at x16 (top slot), one at x4 (bottom slot). My 970 will boot up in either slot. My 1070 only boots in the x4 slot.

What do you think could be the problem?

Got my PC put back together with a few upgrades.

Image
Image

Mobo: ASUS Maximus VI Impact
CPU: i5-4690k OC to 4.7 GHz
CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 AIO w/ Prolima thin 120mm fan
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance
GPU: MSI Gaming X GTX 1080 Ti
SSD: PNY 250GB
HDD: WD 1TB
PSU: Enermax Revolution SFX 550W w/ custom sleeved cables.

Pretty stoked with how it turned out! Making the cables was tedious as hell but make a huge difference in this tiny case, looks and airflow equally! I want to ditch the HDD and get a 1TB SSD and replace the current SSD with an m.2 drive.

Big oof. I had to tear down my whole PC to install a new m.2 nvme drive and in the process I fucked up my motherboard and either ruined it or fried the CPU or both.

So I decided to just upgrade then so now I bought a new LGA 1151 mobo and need to get some DDR4 ram and a cpu since z97 or z87 ITX boards are going for over $200 now. I got a used z107 itx board for $80 and am in the market for ram and a 8600k or 9600k if anyone has one they want to get rid of. Ughhh

Hate to burst your bubble even more, Alex, but if you have z170, you're limited to Skylake and MAYBE Kaby Lake (i5-6600k, i5-7600k)

Yeah, he is right. While the socket is the same the chipset support isn't. To get 8th/9th gen support you need the newer 300 series chipset.

Oh great, thanks for the heads up! I haven’t found a cpu yet so luckily I didn’t waste more money.

Race, I must’ve caught the mobo in something taking it out/putting it in and it knocked off a couple of resistors on the motherboard.
