Always had to use a laptop growing up, since I moved out and have been living on my own I've finally been able to build a PC that I'm extremely happy with. Built with used parts to reduce costs:

CPU: 9600k
GPU: GTX 1080 TI
Ram: 16gb 2x4 3200mhz Vengeance
Stock clocks on a budget mobo, gunna put the cpu under water eventually. Crazy i still get frame drops in mxs lol gg jlv

Nothing wrong with used parts. That's a good setup for most anything.

On another note, changing my 8 year old 500GB HDD for a 4TB new one was refreshing 8)

13% lmfao. I'm doing a build for my buddy right now and can't decide between i5 9400f or ryzen 3300x or wait for 10th gen? 10th isn't available in Canada yet/hard to find. PC will mostly be used for warzone, I know the 9400f is better in warzone benchmarks but I'm thinking am4 gives a lot more freedom for upgrades if he wants, but if they are changing the socket for ryzen 4 then idk. Either way he has a $1000 case budget. Or im thinking grab a used GPU to cut costs down a bit and then maybe get an i7 or ryzen 3600x/3700x? Just basically trying to get the best fps possible for warzone for $1000 cad but don't wanna screw him for upgrades.

I prefer Ryzen, but that's just me. I know a lot of people say Intel is better for gaming, but I didn't see that much of a difference when I switched from my i5 to my Ryzen 5 in gaming. I do other things (video editing, rendering) so the switch was more for content creation reasons. I'd personally do like you said and go for a good used GPU. 1070's are around $300 CAD on eBay and you could probably spring for it.

You could drop the NVMe drive and save a few bucks, but I love mine so much that its hard not to tell someone to get one for their boot drive.

Ended up finding a deal on a Ryzen 2600x that was just too hard to pass up on... Paired it with a rx590 for now she runs good!
