Graphic Mods.

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

Graphic Mods.

Post by onefoureight »

After viewing these, and going back to Sim.

How difficult would it be to create a graphics mod for sim? Is it even possible? Ahh who knows.

Anywho, these are just a couple of gorgeous graphic mod examples.

Would kill for sim graphics to look like these.

Graphics mods are generally like.. Retexturing stuff or improving textures, custom models etc. Right ?? And with modelling, skinning and custom track creation already playing a huge part in the game quality of mxs id say it's already happening. It's just up to the creator of the content to make it as good as possible.
Not sure too much about lighting though. You can change it in track creations but shadows have to be manually placed. Real time shadows would be sick but I don't know how much of a big job it would be for jlv. It's probably on his to do list but I don't know how high or low on the list it would be.

Well Ben there already is some possibility available to graphic mod MX Simulator with QeffectsGL. I remember this thread from a few years back.
http://forum.mxsimulator.com/viewtopic. ... 3&start=45

However it seems like there wasn't any acceptable solution/config for this that's working correctly with the game and it requires a lot of tweaking as well. Theoretically you can enable the following features with it, even though the first two are configurable through your GPU-Drivers settings.

Anisotropic texture filtering
Full-screen antialiasing (MSAA)
HSL color correction
Screen-space emboss bump-mapping
Screen-space ambient occlusion
Bloom
Depth of Field

I think I'll have some free time between the years to look a bit into this and I can let you know if I can achieve something worth to show :D BTW here's the link to its Google Code repository and some other info about it.

technically speaking you can create environments that look good for videos, screenshots, etc. I re-decal, re-shade, replace the lighting and some of the statues depending on the track.

How about grammar school first, then we'll think about it.
