The BMX thread.

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

The BMX thread.

Post by Wilmx829 »

Hey guys I'm starting a new topic about BMX. Just a place where the people who ride can talk about the sport.

I'm trying to start getting into it, so I have a pretty ghetto bike setup, I just have all my money in MX right now and I figured this would be good enough to learn on. I'm more into trails than anything else soo heres the setup:

198? Diamonback frame
rear wheel schwinn
schwinn handlebars (hacksawed down because they were huge to begin with)
schwinn grips
pretty light plastic seat offbrand
diacompe brake from the 80's
diamondback front wheel.
multicultural bearings and such (robbed off parts bikes)
gt pedals

heres a few pics.

http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr36 ... CN1498.jpg

as of right now I can wheelie, bunnyhop, tabletop, manual, you know most begginer stuff.
I have been hitting some pretty big and advanced dirt hits at the local park. Id say they put u about 10 - 12 feet high. I can land them most of the time, but I have trouble leaning to far forward and back (I think because I am used to mx bike being so heavy) I have eaten plenty of sh*t on those big dirt hits because I can't find any small ones to learn on, but most of the time I can clear them just fine. anyways, give me some tips and advice to get better, and hope the guys who ride can use this topic. :D

20 pounds
Holy shit.
That would be like the best bike if it didnt have light-weight parts on it, i'm not saying it has light-weight parts, its just that heavy duty parts weigh more and 20 pounds is amazingly light.

As far as my setup goes, i have Haro everything except:
Fly Mike Day bars - Chrome
Stolen Money grips - Red
Some stock DK seat - Brown/black
--
Haro Z1 Frame, with a sick red paint job.

Last time i weighed it it was: 29.3 pounds
Haha I probably have the heaviest bike out of everyone. I need to take by brakes off though, my brake setup is from a wal-mart bike and it is horrible, it rubs my tire. And my brake cable is shot.

Next year i want to buy more parts. Already have picked out a couple of items.

What's with the pushed forward bars? Imo it's not like it looks cool or anything, has to ride like crap too. To each his own I guess.

I put mine a little bit forward because its just too small if its pulled any further back. I feel like a gorilla on a tricycle.

Haha, how many things do you think you are gonna break next summer riding your bike?

This year, my bro broke almost every single part on his bike. He went through 3 frames, i think like 4 paint jobs, bought rims, bars, grips, headsets, hubs, drivers, seats, brakes and pretty much, like i said everything. He breaks everything though. Dirtbikes, snowmobiles, bikes, anything he can ride haha. But he does some crazy shit riding, so its kind of expected to breaks thing.
