It's the new contract year again and moves are being made to prepare for A1. I was excited to hear Roczen talking up the new wheels he's on and also for Hill debuting the Alta ShredShift at RBSR.

FINALLY an electric bike that looks decent and shows some great power. Apparently in supermoto it already has proven his worth. But MX/SX is a different kind of animal.

Remember they had the Space-X challenge? Why don't they have something like that for increasing power density in batteries? Carrying around 100+ pounds of batteries just to run 20 mins or whatever really sucks. We'll see major improvements as demand and production ramps up. This is still in it's infancy. Too bad so many moto spodes think it's "gay".

Check out the fork travel data logger HRC is using on Roczen's bike. So trick:

I understand they probably were just using it for testing but is it legal to race with? I wonder if that's similar to what RT uses, I thought they did data stuff like that too (Chex?).

Have you tried going through the fox sports go website or app? It isn't on FS1 on my TV but it is on the website, I don't get FS2 either.

The alta is an electric bike that is supposed to compete with 250f's, yet it weighs more than a 450. The weight of an electric bike is the only thing i dont like.

It will probably be a niche bike to ride where sound or pullution is an issue. It could even be viable in anything but top level competition.
From the little I understand from electric motors is that its very hard to gain much more power out of it without changing the battery, which in turn makes it weigh even more.

It´s on the other hand extremely impressive what they have accomplished with this bike and it will be fun to watch how it develops.

5h, that's crazy if it's correct! Remember briefly riding a 85cc equivalent electric bike in 2008 in Denmark. This they said it lasted around 30 minutes back then. Felt awesome to ride, looking forward until the next time I get to ride one.

I can't remember exactly but I think my brother said it's 2 hours, which lasts longer than a tank of gas on a 450.

Even 2 hours is crazy. The mx race bikes should only need 1 hour of power maximum; about 40 minutes of motoing + a couple minutes of riding the pits/etc.

Hell, for straight rhythm they could run a smaller, lighter battery pack that lasts maybe 2 runs, and then swap out separate charged packs between races.

Either way, its really cool, and I hope Josh at least beats 1 person this weekend.
