Re: YOUR Real MX Vid's
Spent a couple of hours in this thread looking through the videos you guys have been making, freakin' awesome job everyone!
Sadly, I tore my ACL recently and gonna be out most likely until beginning/middle of the summer. With that said, I'm looking for something new to keep me busy until I can hop on the bike again and not only until, but moving on aswell.
Filming/editing has been growing on me lately and I'd like to pick it up myself. Not too many guys here in Estonia film moto, but we have some really good riders and tracks.
So my question to you guys is, what would be reasonable gear to get my feet wet with filming? Not sure about the budget yet, so would be nice, if there were couple of options.
Thanks!

Re: YOUR Real MX Vid's
In my opinion all you need to get started is a DSLR (Something that can do at least 60fps @1080p) and a tripod. I could recommend a ton of stuff, but you can do so much with so little.
If you do get into it then good luck and I look forward to seeing your future videos!

Re: YOUR Real MX Vid's
Does anyone have some actual suggestions? Let's say that the budget is max 1000€, preferably under that.

Re: YOUR Real MX Vid's
I would check out the Panasonic GH4 or Sony a6500 for example with a solid lens on it.
I started with a Canon 60D back in the days and invested already around 15k for video equipment

Re: YOUR Real MX Vid's
I really wouldn't like to buy used equipment, but the GH4 is 1k already, without lens(es), tripod and so on. And ohh boy, a6500 is like 1.5k alone.Sib43 wrote:I would check out the Panasonic GH4 or Sony a6500 for example with a solid lens on it.

Re: YOUR Real MX Vid's
Oh shit sorry. Thought they are cheaper.
Well, I bought a used a7sii and a used fs700 because a new one wasn't affordable for me. Using the 700 now for over 3 years. Maybe you should think about used stuff. Just don't buy from a motocross guy lol otherwise those cameras these days are hard to destroy.
Maybe you look around for a cheaper Canon EOS DSLR. 1080p with 50/60fps should be good to go.

Re: YOUR Real MX Vid's
Check the Canon 70D/77D and Sony A6300 or alpha 7.
From what I heard the Sony a6300 is a badass camera but they have an overheating problem when you film in 4k. Maybe this could be your choice though. Awesome quality and if you are doing just short clips, the overheating shouldnt be an issue.

Thank you Sib!
Been looking through the options and all other gear and man!!! Everything has a serious price tag But I guess you can always sell the gear if things don't work out and isn't really for me, altho I doubt it.

Re: YOUR Real MX Vid's
I use the sony a6300. Looks like it's dropped in price since I got it. IMO it's a great camera and you can't beat the price for what they're giving you. 1080p @ 120fps and 4k @ 30fps and the auto focus is ridiculously good. The only thing you're really missing out on is the stabilization that the a6500 has and I've done just fine without it so far. You can also get a solid 55-210mm lens to go with it for less than $200 I think now.

Re: YOUR Real MX Vid's
Thinking about pulling the trigger on a6000 with 16-50 and 55-210 kit - 700€ total (new). Start off with that and go from there.
a6300 body is over 900€ itself and I wouldn't want to order it used from somewhere (couldn't find used in Estonia).
Thanks for the advice everyone!
