2017 MXGP Series thread

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

2017 MXGP Series thread

Post by model_90 »

This thread might be a little late since Qatar happened yesterday, but at least this can serve as a thread for those that pay attention to the GPs. (Spoilers for Qatar) As for the first round of the mx1 class I have to admit I was surprised to see Cairoli outrun Gaijser in the late stages of the race. For the Mx2 class, I had no clue who could win it this year and I think that class is gonna be the one to watch since you never really know who can win since a majority of the frontrunners from last season have either moved up or gone to the states. Overall if I had to be look out for a few poeple this year that have a shot at the championship, I'd have to say for the MXGP premier class it would be:

Tim Gaijser(defending champ, rode like an animal last year, is basically the slovenian equivalent of roczen rn)
Image

Antonio Cairoli(8 time champ basically means you can never be counted out as a champion favorite)
Image

Clement Desalle(I really think that this dude might be able to contend for the championship now that he has started off on the right foot)
Image

Romain Febrve (I still think that he has the speed to win,he just excels on the more technical tracks)
Image

MX2 Picks:

Jorge Prado ( the kid was fast at Assen)
Image

Jeremy Seweer ( the dudes got consistency ex:2016 season)
Image

Pauls Jonass (showed he can haul ass on multiple occasions and proved it at Qatar)
Image

Thomas Covington (gotta root for the American)
Image

Those are who I am gonna be watching out for in both classes, if any of yall need a link to some of the GP races being broadcasted hmu with a pm.

Will be interesting to see how the track turns out this week. Anxious to see videos/pictures of the finished layout and what the soil is like - can't tell if it's going to be sandy, sandy/loose on top with hard base, or just regular hard packed dirt.

If it's anything like last year, the track is gonna suck.

Yep, new track, new location. This one is further south than the last time they hosted in Indonesia, and it's much closer to the sea. The layout looks pretty boring, but if it's at least mostly sand it should end up being decent (hopefully). If it's just hardpack, well, that will be really bland based on the only 3D graphic they have released of the layout.

Herlings set the world on fire at Qatar!! Hopefully we can see his full potential soon instead of watching him ride around the back of the pack.

Don't get how they call this track a 'GP track', i understand they have had bad weather conditions but the locations of these tracks are just random bits of dirt, am sure they have better tracks with better places for spectators and enough room for the big trucks. Don't get why they would want to keep going flat places and making a boring track, hopefully all this water might make it abit more intresting racing.

I really don't understand why they would go to Indonesia on an temporary shit track when there are so many beautiful tracks in the world. And then also organize a race in the when it's the rain season over there.
