That's a 10 point difference, if Febvre finishes 5th (I doubt he wins with the form that Herlings, Gajser, and Cairoli have been showing), then I don't see Cole or Covington finishing 15th or worse to make that 14th by Charlier the "winning difference".

Based on what I've seen this year I picture these guys finishing in these positions at the MXDN

USA: Osborne (3rd-8th depending on his start) Seely (5th-10th, he will probably get good starts which will help) Covington (5th-10th)
France: Febvre (1st-6th dependong on his form) Charlier (15th-20th) Paulin (5th-10th he might do better, usually rides well at the MXoN)
Belguim: Desalle (3rd-8th) Lieber (15th-DNF he crashes A LOT from what I've seen) Horebeek (3rd-8th usually rides well at the MXDN, personally I'd rather see him ride the 250 like he did last year and put Strojbos in the Open class)

The sleeper is GB in their home country, all three riders can be inside the top 10 and maybe lower (Anstie and Wilson possible top 5s), and Netherlands is another sleeper with Herlings having the potential to go 1-1 while Bogers is a solid MX2 rider and Coldenhoff can be quick at times too.
I honestly think Seely will struggling to top 10, i'll also be crazy impressed to see Osborne get a 3rd with the level of talent coming from the 450 guys.

I don't really agree with the Paulin (5th-10th he might do better) The guy could smash everyone on that line on a good day.

I also wouldn't put NL in the sleeper category when the dutch dudes lost the win on the last lap last year with the exact same line up

If Osborne finishes 5th, but he's the first MX2 rider, he's listed as 5th, not 1st.

He might be the favorite for the MX2 class, but remember he's going to be racing against 450s in both of his races

There is 3 Motos, each class has 2 Motos but they're also combined with another class (OPEN + MX2, MXGP + OPEN, MX2 + MXGP). So Osborne will be at a power disadvantage in both motos. He could win the MX2 overall by getting good results but in today's day and age an MX2 rider struggles to run near the front for obvious reasons.

As you can see Martin got 2nd in MX2 with a 9-9 score.

"It's been a long hard summer of work and finally we're getting to the fun part of shaping up our layout with freshly screened dirt. The natural soil at Matterley is as savage as you will find anywhere so screening out the giant flints is an inconvenient but necessary undertaking to avoid significant injuries."

Cole will be top 10 under normal circumstances, irregular circumstances would include a first turn crash, bike problem, or severe mudder, etc.

He checked how safe it was to crash at Assen.

The track failed the security test. If this can be on the calendar then Namur can be as well.
