Re: 3d animation/renders
This may or may not be the right section to post in.
I am currently studying 3D arts and animation and have come across a section that mentions the use of graphics tablets. What I want to know is people's opinions of them and if it would be a good investment towards my career.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sculpting and illustrations you can't go wrong with one.
Re: 3d animation/renders
I have one. I thought I would use it more and it is quite handy so I would buy an inexpensive one to try out and you can upgrade if you find that you use it a lot. I got one of the Monoprice ones for like $35 works really well with pressure sensitivity and everything.

How long have you had the Monoprice tablet? I was considering buying a Wacom Intuos a while back, but I almost never have a use for a tablet with my schoolwork or freelance stuff. At $70 and if they hold up well, I could justify getting one of the medium sized ones for personal work.

I have had it for probably about a year or year and a half. I did replace the pen with a different one that works better and feels better in hand but otherwise it works great. The drivers are a little shitty so that took a while to get working right but otherwise it has been fine. I haven't used an actual Wacom and I am sure they are better but for my uses the Monoprice is fine.KTM57 wrote:How long have you had the Monoprice tablet? Now, i haven't rendered in forever, this is the second one i have done tonight with my new computer. I have never done a car render before, so this is my first attempt, just never found the motivation because i could never find a good car model. Hoping to improve more but i am extremely happy with the result of this, its easily one of the best i have done in my past renders. The one thing i do notice with this which i plan to fix in my next renders with this car are the bottom part of the door, just the texture, its pixelated as hell and it won't be a hard fix, but i was a bit lazy this time around, but i figured i would post this here because i am really happy with the result and as far as materials go for blender/cycles, if anyone has a better idea for rim materials that would be great, its something i struggled with, maybe its just the rims on the car, but i couldn't find something i was happy with.
Attempted Photographer < I try.... Shitty racer, Only good at screenshots, forever pretending to be quick at MXS.

I miss this thread, had to bring it back up beffore it drops to page two
just expermenting and learning.
wood is not full resolution background is poorly merged, the grass definitely need some more variation and sky should be more cloudy
I'm just happy I didn't quit halfway as I usually do
(mimic of a real photo)

Sick Benji! At a quick glance, I'd never suspect that to be nothing but a real photo. After examining, that I can tell from the lighting is that the background is a little more yellow than your white light. Looks insane either way, great job!

Cool! I actually like the background color, it gives me feeling like sun is illuminating the forest there and the front area is more cloudy. Also I have noticed that often trees are like glowing and getting a yellow/fresh green tint in a straight sunlight because of their material.
