Just incase anyone here has no clue why we dont see right hand first turns in SX anymore its due to the lack of a rear brake in that situation.... Yes you could keep your foot on the peg and brake.... but then you lose balance.... watch some old 80's and early 90's SX's on youtube.com and you will see alot of chaos in those first right hand corners.

From my understanding it's something that these guys are imagining.

It once was something JLV implemented to discourage ramming. If you'd hit someone with your front wheel your steering would lock in that position. Causing you to crash as well.

My understanding of how it works now is that for a moment after you make contact the stabilizer is disabled, and for a longer period rider dab is also disabled. If you're going fast enough, and hit lightly enough you can manage to ride w/o the stabilizer. However, when you are slowing down to avoid hitting someone but still manage to nudge them you are usually out of luck, and end up laying on the ground.

Die, stop posting, you are clueless.

Front end lock normaly means the front tyre locking up when braking. well it does where i live in the UK

where as what id think he means is steering lock. which is how much of a turning angle you have with the handle bars until you can't turn the bars no more.

Yeah you're right, it's ridiculous. So many crashes are caused by it and just gets frustrating

Agreed, I can't stand going 2mph trying to get around someone and then barely touching them and down I go.

That's a collision/prediction problem. As far as the "lock" goes, Phat is pretty much right. It doesn't exist any more. If you react fast enough you can hit someone and stay upright. You still have the full steering force. You just don't have the instant reaction of the steering stabilizer.

BTW, are there demos posted anywhere? I forgot to save the demo and I'm curious what was going on with Evans in the 450 LCQ. First time I've ever black flagged someone in one of these races.

So this is where that collision to slow motion fall over is happening right. If i act fast enough I can still hold my self up slightly but really fight it. My thought is if its not enough collision to make you fall off but fall over slowly then truthfully it needs some work. crashes like that and the what feels like 30-40 second get up slowly turn crap causes more chaos in racing and riding then i believe was intended right. And I mean all this in a good question way not complaining at all just sucks to see people robbed cause of bikes and bodies spread out and guys getting bumped loosing balance and causing more of a pile up.
