The end of an era...

Post by checkerz »

After the 2014 rF outdoors, a handful of riders have stepped away from MXS including many of the members of the Race Tech team. With Mikey rage quitting... errr... stepping away for good, the team was left in my hands. During the off season, we were left with the decision to rebuild the team basically from the ground up or just close it down. Rebuilding the team with the same attitude of the original team (bringing on friends who we like to hangout with vs. fast guys who we might not hang with) would mean hijacking riders from other teams. That option didn't sound like something we were into, it isn't our style. Closing down completely didn't sound awesome either, as a handful of us still enjoy playing the game together. So we have decided to take the remains of the team and join up with our friends at FAMmx.

Here is a bit of a look back at the run of the RT team and some great memories with some awesome dudes.

2012 - The first Race Tech team owned and led by two time SX champion ShackAttack - MotoOption/Race Tech/Yamaha

Members:
Shack, Yzed, Checkerz, Mittocs, Mikey, Pinned
Notables:
Mikey Wins Winter Indoor Lites, 250W SX, and 250 Outdoor Titles

The team that lasted about 4 rounds - MotoOption/RaceFactory/Race Tech

Sween, wheels, and Markham joined on an Attacker sponsored KTM. This amount of failures of this deal can all be summed up by this... Markham was added to the team and never left.

2013 - Mikey takes over the team. Dupuis wins the 450 MX title. Jamal is the amateur development rider. Somewhere in here Alec and Betts were on the team.

2014 - Darr jagerbombs his way onto the team for SX. Stralo steals Jamal's spot. Midbeck joins because he's 2 legit to quit.

Outdoors 2014 marks the final season of the Race Tech team. Atleast we looked good in our farewell tour. Whipmaster amateur sensation Hunter Hawkins is picked up midway through outdoors for no apparent reason other than he goes big.

It's been a helluva ride, I believe here is the rundown of the OG's who joined the team for some time.

Bryan SHACK Haskell
Nate Zaworski
Mikey Owen
Zack Dupuis
Cody Darr
Hunter Hawkins
Mike Stralo
Alec Cattenburg
Chris Riesenberg
Josh Betts
Jamal Loga
Hot Karl Midbeck
Adam Sweeney
Daniel Markham (unfortunately)

Jab jab, and definitely not. just thought it would be fun for all the guys that were part of the team, one of the longest running with a pretty consistent roster around.

It all sorta evolved from that, so I wasn't sure about including it because it wasn't the RT team. Though it was the same team that became MotoOption/Race Tech/Yamaha.

Also,I left Kasey off the list of riders.

...says the guy who left a team in the hands of a 14 year old who knew like 2 of the riders. Now I've had all these fucking Swedes on my team for years all because of you. #neverforgiveneverforget
