1. Have Your Shit Together BEFORE You Post!
What does this mean? Very simple: Have your skins ready to go. DO NOT SAY "LOOKING FOR A SKINNER!" There are plenty of tutorials on how to use PS on YoutTube. It is okay to be recruiting, but you don't necessarily need to make a whole topic for the issue. It's much easier to attract riders with a professional looking setup.

2. Creating Your Own Team.
A few things here: First, be able to skin, or have a teammate that knows how to. It never hurts to have more than one person that knows their way around the skinning aspect of the game on your team. Second, don't try and make a replica team. Yes, it has been done successfully, but most of the time is an epic fail. Third, your average team has 6 active racers: 3 for lites (250s) and 3 for the premier class (450s). Fourth, don't rip someone's stuff and call it your own. At best, you won't get banned but you just flushed whatever "rep" you had down the toilet.
3. You Don't Need a Team.
A team is nice to have, but it is not necessary to be a part of one to race. Nobody is entitled to a team. Go make friends in the race/teamspeak servers and, more than likely, you'll find enough riders to create a team after a while (what I did

5. The Release.
Again, have your shit together FIRST! This means have a screenshot(s)/Team Logo to head up the post. Then a rider list, download links, and credits. Be sure to have decent looking screenshots (Tutorial by VUR3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LexBCdr1cFM).
