try to reduce polys, nowadays everybody is modeling bolts and other small details. It's not necessary you can do normal maps, it will look pretty much the same and be more gentle to the game ;) nice job for your beginnings tho ;)

thanks for the advice! how would i compensate the detail in the norms?

best way imo would be to do a highpoly (what you have so far) and a lowpoly version (without details, just the important elements with less polygons) and then bake a normal map from the highpoly to the lowpoly model. that way its gonna look pretty much as the highpoly and it will have only necessary polygons ;) check youtube for baking tutorials if you are not familiar with the procedure ;)
