Still need to mess with poly flow and most likely gonna redo the side plates for that reason but here is the updated plastics, still gotta add bolts and all that ( maybe, thinking of either modeling or skinning them in )

Re: Upcoming Models #2
This seems like the best place to ask this question.
I've been trying to figure out how to make a decent crowd track object for a while now but I'm not sure what the best way to go about it would be. I've got a pretty low poly person model made, but it's still 200-something tris. I feel like that's going to be too detailed if you were to place a decent amount of them on the track but if you go any less, it's not really even going to look good at all. Flat planes with a picture of a crowd doesn't look good if you tried to cover a hillside or field with them and billboards don't look right either. Not to mention, it's hard to get a random spread of people with billboards without it taking a painstaking amount of time.
Anyone ever thought about making a crowd model that wouldn't be very demanding?

Are you making individuals or a crowd?

The main goal is a crowd, really. But I guess it'd also be nice to be able to put spectators close to the track that looked better than billboards, too. So maybe I'm actually after two things...Pumaxcs wrote:Are you making individuals or a crowd?
It'd be nice to be able to have something like this on your track that looked decent.

I looked up some MXGP game videos to see what their crowds look like and they seem to have animated people but the more I look at it, they almost just look like a "billboard" type of file.
I tried making a crowd close to the track out of billboards once and it just didn't look right.

P2sta has done it before and as small of a detail as it is, it's made his tracks feel so much more real. It'd be a game changer for sure to have an actual crowd, having photographers, mechanics, etc. That would be so sick lol best of luck Aeffertz, excited to see the upcoming project!

Re: Upcoming Models #2
Making a crowd then stepping down with LOD's is a must do because that could add up quick. The problem with realistic crowds is the textures more so than the model. You would need so many variations of clothing/accessories/poses etc. that would eventually need to have 10 models or so that way it doesn't look noticeably repeatable and each of those 10 have 2-3 skins for them to further help.

Looks awesome, Jay. I pray for the day you'll make a Yamaha though....
