Just look at my very first projects when i first got Wings3D (I don't count Milkshape 3D in, I mean it wasn't really for Modelling, was it?

)
I barely used Photobucket for a few years, but you can clearly see that everyone, including me, started at some point.

I also can't agree more with Mason(m121c), it's very time consuming and you really have to want it to be able to be good at it, but just like I said, we all had to go through that.
@broland: That looks great! Just try to bake it down on a game ready low polygon mesh and show us the result, this looks very promising!
To everyone else who's reading this, make sure to study models by Jonathan, I've learned so much from him, he's definitely a unique character, but he spent a lot time to teach me things and showed me his models. I studied his unbelievable poly-flow and tried to adapt it to other projects. His models were usually almost too low poly to make Normal maps work properly, but his polyflow and ability to get down the shape exactly how it's supposed to be is outstanding.
