how do i make norms man? or can i use existing ones and name them different or something? not sure

Norms are very difficult, it took me about a year and a half to understand how they work and how to make/edit them and I still can't fully make them to this day because one of the steps (baking). You have to download Nvidia Normal map filter then my suggestion is to watch Youtube videos or search here on the forums.

You shouldn't use someone elses norms because in real life, there are parts of the pants that are made of rubber and is rised above the gear.

ok cool i think i get it. so when you have made the norm do i need to make a spec to? because i tryed using some random norm just to see if it work but it didnt.

ok so i made a rough norm an d named it the same as the jm but it doesnt work? thanks for you help just cant find any more info on naming them and such

so do you need blender to make a norm? because i made one in photoshop with nvidia filter.. and cant get it to work. can anyone give me a step bye step thing they do when making a norm? because how do you get the jm's? im just confsed and wanna get this stuff down.

there was a guy from New Zealand who made a tutorial on it, just YouTube Mx Simulator Normal Map tutorial or something,
