Well since this bike is going to be sold and no offence to anyone that buys/sells stuff for this game, I think it's absolutely lame.
The game shouldn't be something to make money off within the community from a personal perspective.

Here's my skin I made for the bike which, well, I won't be using since it's a "private" bike...

Well you could always make a bike yourself, it's not like it's a profession or anything, because that would require skill, experience, knowledge and maybe even a degree if you're pretty up there. And people don't pay for those kinda qualifications, oh wait.
The community's been a soup kitchen for long enough, especially too those that don't deserve it.

I feel like releasing a template with a blend file would be way better in the long run.

-complete customization
-no bitching about selfishness
-you will be able to hear other modelers critiques to help you with future modeling
-you will earn respect for not being greedy and begging for money

The Cons-
-you wont make money if you're trying to sell it
