7000 polygons is high. I know that Jon puts a lot of detail into some of the things that he models, so you might reach this.

Wilson said that his crf250 (the newest 2010/2011 one) was ~4000 polygons. If I were to make another bike model, I would try to keep it below 5500 polygons.

1 Polygon can equal 2 tris, so you could estimate that 5500 polys = 11000 tris (4000 polys = 8000 tris).

How are you guys doing on poly count as of now?

-I might be mistaken, but the entry space for the swingarm into the frame seems small (where the pivot point is).
-Are the side numberplates attached to the frame? I hope that they are connected to the plastics + seat + gas tank object.
-The bottom of the front numberplate doesn't seem to have the same contours as in real life. Are you leaving this for maps?
-Can you throw in a smoothed preview for the nest update?

I wish people would talk in terms of triangles. The term 'poly' is so ambiguous, because it can either be a triangle or a quad.

The 2010 YZF is 10500 triangles. Its not such a problem if you make some LODs

The crf is 9200 tris with a pretty bad lods, so Im sure you could go a little over djs count(with good lods) and the game should still run fine.

1)ye i think its is, i did not want to scale the bike out sideways, because thats the way Jonathan gave me the seat and shrouds. When he sends me the swingarm I will make it wider if needed.

2)they are not, i thought they arnt supposed to be, arnt they supposed to be called side_plates.jm? Which is different to the frame.jm?

3)I was messing with that for ages to get it right, i will mess more i thing you are right, i will see what i could do.

4)noob question, nest update?

Thanks. :D

Ok we sorry for double post but i a question to answer for timferry.

Poly Count:

-No Engine
-No Swing Arm
-No Levers

Tris: 5127

I think its pretty good, i know that the engine will take up a lot, but i think we will end up under 10,000 tris.

A question on LOD's:
DO i simply just take some polys away, or do i have to uv map everything again, how does this thing work? :)

Front plate looks fine. You can make it look real with some shading and normal maps.

@2) They need to be modeled just like they are in real life. Then, when you are separating the jm's I'm pretty sure you just select them or the exporting script does it for you. Not sure. But, you just model the bike like real life. :P

@4) He meant next.

The sideplate looks a bit awkward.
