Re: Upcoming Skins and Shader Maps #2
It's honestly a huge waste of time to skin a chest protector, unless you have it modeled. They always look super bad since they're flat and the issue with the neck brace is a whole another problem in itself.

Yeah like KTM said unless you make a model your gonna have a bit of trouble. It would be possible to alpha it out. Odds are it wont look to clean.BrutalMX wrote:Messing around with Normals trying to get everything right...
I could use some help...if you type in Leatt Adventure Vest Lite or something in google you'll see how the back of the Leatt slips right under the chest protector in the back. As you could see in the 3rd picture, its on top of the Vest; should I just alpha out the section of the Leatt that won't be shown? Or is there a way to actually fit the leatt underneath the Vest?
But it is worth a try. Are you going to add in buckles etc? Also it may be a good idea to play with the normal's a little more.
Make the protector pop a little more off the rider. After a few tweaks I'd say its gonna be pretty pro.

So when you download the chest protector do you need to save it to a certain type of gear or will it be used for all gears when you download it?

Just a guess but it looks like a skin. So im assuming you will need to add it to your template/ rider skin.Ddavis wrote:So when you download the chest protector do you need to save it to a certain type of gear or will it be used for all gears when you download it?

Its too late to back out now, and I honestly think it looks pretty good. Ill have to figure something out with the neck brace...but I need to ask you something KTM, I need some help with straps.KTM57 wrote:It's honestly a huge waste of time to skin a chest protector, unless you have it modeled. And I'm not entirely sure yet how I'm going to release it, either a template or on some gear, ill worry about that later. Thanks for all the feedback!

Release it like the neck braces. Just save it as a .png with transparency so people can just copy paste it on there skin.
As far as the straps go whats the problem? You don't know how to connect them up or...
They line up perfectly fine if you just through a straight line across the front and back.

Yeah, thats my problem actually. I cant get the straps to be exactly lined up, like KTM57's Leatt strap(i think)? I tried using it as a reference but just couldnt do it..been experimenting with it saving it, opeening in game, repeat hahaBoblob801 wrote:Yeah don't stop dude.BrutalMX wrote:Its too late to back out now, and I honestly think it looks pretty good. Try using Blender to match it up. Much easier to look at the model, plus you can just reload the skin without reopening the program.

Is there a post somewhere explaining how to import the ridermodel to look at it?KTM57 wrote:Try using Blender to match it up. Much easier to look at the model, plus you can just reload the skin without reopening the program.

File>Import>Wavefront obj
Select the rider model, change to edit mode, and open up your skin in the UV/Image editor.

Re: Upcoming Skins and Shader Maps #2
You have to set the model mode or whatever it may be called to 'textured'. I don't know how to do it in the new Blender because I still use 2.6.6.
