Re: 2013crf450r Stock Final Release
What a gong show. I would say this would have been best dealt with in private between the people involved. I find it hilarious seeing all of the fan boy responses in here by people who are not even involved. Childish...

So, then, how is it not copyright infringement if you copy a graphics company's work for in mxs? I use graphics companies for templates and redraw them (which is what Paul is claiming to have done). Am I breaking the rules too? (Not being a jackass, I've wondered this for a while now but there's never been a real definitive answer that I have found).KTM57 wrote:You get automatic rights to work that you make. I am nit pointing a finger here, just making a plain statement. And my rant is really directed at the small percentage of community that do this...which incidentally make up a large percentage of the group of MXS creators.
And, again, not pointing fingers, but how did you get his most recent template? Did Paul send it to you for verification?
I 100% do not support ripping, but you shouldnt make something and at the last second say, "hey you can't use that stuff i made for your model now." It's just kind of bs in all honesty and makes you (whoever does it) look like a dick. Know what I mean?

Amen to this. Regardless of all the he said, she said, nice to see it out.Stormz wrote:Everyone in this thread complaining bitch about how I am "so mean" here. So it's coming out again
If all of you little brats weren't so enthralled with keeping your stuff so private and having your little e-peen stroked, this community could have some sick shit. Im not saying don't give credit where it's due, I am saying stop being so selfish and learn some maturity. No one is getting paid to model or design anything here, so its not breaking copyright rules. And to break copyright rules...it has to be copyrighted first...
Thanks CHECKERZ and DJ99X and everyone else who releases their work for enjoyment AND community improvement.

Thing is he didn't copy shit. He said he did but no its not possible to get a perfect recreation of my shading. The only thing I see is he adjusted some of the opacity settings. The png matches straightup up with my template.Stormz wrote: I use graphics companies for templates and redraw them (which is what Paul is claiming to have done). Am I breaking the rules too? I opened up the saf for verification, just to make sure. Not like 75% of this community doesn't know how anyway.
So lets get this straight. Not repsecting my desicion to not use my work, claim to redo the work but actually do nothing to change it, release it with no credit to the actually creator, and then lie about not ripping isn't being a dick?Stormz wrote: I 100% do not support ripping, but you shouldnt make something and at the last second say, "hey you can't use that stuff i made for your model now." The ignorance in your post is acutally pretty funny. Any more intelligant posts trying to prove that this was a good desicion and that I am wrong for being upset?
Re: 2013crf450r Stock Final Release
The way I look at it...Mason did tons of work on this bike and when he said he didn't want to be a part of it at all, pretty sure he meant and he DID SAY to delete his work and to NOT release it with his work. From the looks of it, the shading looks exactly the same except for some minor opacity changes. That's a d1ck move on Paul's part I have to say...

finally some wise words in this topic. I think we all should just be happy with another great model and thank every one who has been working on it.Stormz wrote:Everyone in this thread complaining bitch about how I am "so mean" here. So it's coming out again

It feels like there is alot of ppl who really doesn't have the "communitys best interest" as number 1 on their list why they make models, their number 1 is showing off their skills and just arguing about "copyright" and ripping and other shit.
I'm defenitely not rooting for ripping or anything like ripping but cmon, if some one rips something 90% of the ppl will know its ripped and you'll get your credits. And i haven't followed this conflict about who has made what on this model so im not gonna comment on that but anyway,
Thanks Paul and everyone else who has been helping to make this model!

After reading all this the sad thing is that everyone will remember Pauls name the most.

Great stuff this topic is a great read.
Far as I'm concerned I couldn't give a shit who does what.
If you all so pathetic and childish about it sign an agreement that you can all agree on.

This remind me of a situation I found myself in when I was a young buck modding rFactor. I basically did all the work to figure out how to get a dirt latemodel and dirt tracks to work in an asphalt racing game. Then got together a team to work on fine tuning and modeling cars and tracks. We did all this in private. Problem being some of the people involved wanted to play with their pals and wet ahead and spread the mod around the internet. In return I just stopped working on it and went racing for the summer.
When I got back in the fall I found my mod released as a beta on a website. I contacted them and said "hey, this, this an this are my files. You don't have permission to use them." I was assured they would change them and while still offended that they took over my mod I was okay with it. A few weeks later when the "final" version of the mod was released low and behold my files were still in there. The big one that I took issue with was the tire file. The sold file that made the car like it was on dirt versus on asphalt. Turns out they were so inept that they didn't even know that the file was edited or effected the cars at all. So we came to an agreement to have them take out my tire file and release a patch to fix it. And that's why if you've ever played dirtFactor that you have to drive the cars with the wheels inline to be fast. You're welcome
Moral of that long story is this. Input myself through a lot of stress to "get back" at those people who I thought had wronged me. In the end it wasn't worth it at all. Anything I worked on for rFactor after that (ORR mods, WCORR mod, dirt street stocks, dirt modified, sprint cars and another latemodel mod) all of my work was made public and released for all to use. A lot more people liked me and I was a lot less stressed about who had my work and who didn't. I enjoyed working on those mods far more than dirtFactor. You guys will someday see the light, hopefully sooner rather than later after reading my story.

Well said Phathry.
Here's a picture of the front plate Paul. It's just the bottom that needs to be changed I think. You can see in the photo that it's flat at the bottom as if they've cut the bottom of the point off the old one.
