m121c, well I think creating the high poly first will get much better baking results ? Allthough I suck at baking I saw this in a lot of tutorials and tried it. I just like the way to work in quads first and then go back and re-topo the model. I agree with you cylindrical objects are your enemy with this method :D
Tennis, Basketball and Baseball all requires one ball
Motocross requires two!

I also like the Low>High version better since you already got your base model, and all you need for it is pretty much just champher and turbo smoothing it (at simple objects).
The other way around from high poly to low poly needs a lot more work I'd say, since you kinda need to remodel all again.

I like the method of letting Andy do all the work, but that's just me.

I don't see how it would effect your bake any other than the fact re-topoing from the high poly would make them match more closely possibly?

Poly flow. Oh and try to make everything in quads, triangles cause headaches. Also that front plate will give you fits when you do the high poly due to it having 6 vertices. However you did the hole in the airbox that will not work as there are no edges connecting to the vertices.

Exactly like that. And yes it would cause problems with the high poly, and probably the unwrap.

Is there a way to get a hole like that without having to redo the entire airbox and have the vertices still work?

You would be better off re-modeling it probably. If not you can loop cut it and then weld the vertices together. Which would probably turn out bad poly flow wise.

Be very careful with chamfers because they actually remove your original edge. Edge loops almost always give a much better result when building support edges. Chamfer is your enemy.
