Re: Upcoming Models #2
alright woke up early for some reason and wanted to get a normal map done.. so here is the front number plate with its normal map

Re: Upcoming Models #2
I placed a light, put a shitty stand in and hit render, this was the result (No materials, maps etc. Not even completed).

Re: Upcoming Models #2
Secondly for this one where all the ridges meet to a point towards the front its too wide, they start off very thin and smoothly and gradually get bigger like thisvortexracingleader wrote:Alright was able to spend the night modeling and here is my progress for the night.. still need to clean up the verts and stuff but pretty proud on how its coming out.. feedback would be wonderful
Looking pretty good Damien, first I'd like to say that the ridge line right in the middle/top of the front fender is actually pretty smooth with just a small crease like so

one more reference so you get the idea (these are old pics if you need anymore just pm me I have new plastic now that hasn't been touched so i can get some good references)

Re: Upcoming Models #2
Thanks a ton for thoose pictures.. they really helped.. i went threw cleaned it up.. fixed the parts that needed to e fixed ( i found them out like right after i posted the other pictures
) let me know how this is..this isnt a final normal map or anything its just something i whiped up to test the shading on the fender and stuff

Re: Upcoming Models #2
Shouldn't really need any shading at all, let the maps do the work. A light AO won't hurt though.
For the fender are the edges really that soft or is it just the render? Best way to test game models is in the game. Although things like Marmoset Toolbag are really cool programs with real time rendering where it automatically updates as you update the psd.

Re: Upcoming Models #2
when i ment shading i ment the 3d model shading not the texture shading.. on that there is no shading at all its just a normal map and a cycles diffuse color :3.. but yea i am going to prob put what i have right now in game.. just need to unwrap it and stuffm121c wrote:Shouldn't really need any shading at all, let the maps do the work. I wonder what your creations would look like without you "whipping" them up... maybe take some time and you'll create something you're proud of instead of blurring it. I'm not a whodini of modelling but how are you testing the normal mapping and spec mapping without upwrapping?vortexracingleader wrote: just something i whiped up
Re: Upcoming Models #2
Only thing I can say is that top middle ridge is still too sharp, need to smooth it out more and lower the vertices right there just a little. Other than that it's lookin mint man!vortexracingleader wrote:Thanks a ton for thoose pictures.. they really helped.. i went threw cleaned it up.. fixed the parts that needed to e fixed ( i found them out like right after i posted the other pictures) let me know how this is..this isnt a final normal map or anything its just something i whiped up to test the shading on the fender and stuff

Re: Upcoming Models #2
they are unwrapped.. who said it wasnt unwrapped? and its a render with depth of field. and idk what your talking about im hella proud on how this is coming out.and flyinghigh thanks for the advice. only thing i would say is the top not really to be lower becuase i modeled it to the picture but i will make the edge not so sharp would make it look 100% better. btw the only reason i am rendering it at all is to test to see if the modeling would bake okay and if there was any shading errors.Racers52 wrote:I wonder what your creations would look like without you "whipping" them up... maybe take some time and you'll create something you're proud of instead of blurring it. He's just jelly Damien. Maybe he blurred it to show the indentation of the front fender for FlyinhighRacers52 wrote:I wonder what your creations would look like without you "whipping" them up... maybe take some time and you'll create something you're proud of instead of blurring it.
