n00b question about skins!

I am looking to start my own team with a friend and want to make our own graphics.....how do i go about skinning? Like literally how do i know where to put things and what not? cheers!

Just download a template and it should be pretty obvious for the majority... then just ask for the rest of the stuff as it comes up. (It the shock or some thing like that
