You want to purchase high quality model files created using CAD software?

My first thought would be to contact P2sta about his wheel models. I have hesitation about selling models made in a university version.

i don't have any CAD models, i know few guys around here did some bike parts in solidworks (Shadow did the kx parts, some other guys did tripleclaps and forks), etc. but not much you can do with it i guess. there are tons of free cad models all over the net

Pls correct me if I am wrong but is the Nurbs modeling tool suitable as surface creation for a CAD software ?
Tennis, Basketball and Baseball all requires one ball
Motocross requires two!

not exactly, nurbs modeling is based on curves (still just surface), CAD stuff are made from operations with solids (its a solid object, not just surface)
1. solid, 2.mesh, 3d. nurbs

CAD objects and mesh objects are like vectors against pixels. Vectors are made up of mathematical expressions while pixels are made up of squares. Same as goes for the objects, your CAD model is made up of mathematical expressions while your mesh model is made out of polygons. I think I have a Renthal sprocket I made in CAD awhile ago if that would work along with some hubs (I think).

Although you would be impressed with the capabilities of going from CAD to Mesh, I know with Inventor to 3ds Max it works really well.

But it does not work the other way around ?
In my understanding CAD software is basicly used for, I would call it, "real live modeling" such as CNC cutting/turning. In order to do that a CNC lathe for example needs specific measurements. Would it be possible to get those measurement/data from 3ds max ?

Motocross requires two!

You could use units and snaps in 3ds max but i would think it would be less efficient and not as accurate.

You are right CAD is for real world things so measurements are needed if what you are making is something to be brought to real life either through construction or manufacturing.
