the best way for sure imo is to have a scanned model start lowpoly then high. as said it's personall preference but I used to do high to low but for sim (more lowpoly than average) it didn't ever work that well.Boblob801 wrote:It's better to start from a high and go low (More accurate and the ability to get a solid low poly using projection as aposed to just guessing where you can skip detail). But way easier doing it low to high, I've always done it that way.Jeremy150 wrote:It's personal preference, personally I start from from a low poly.gusma wrote:...making a lowpoly model (i'm not sure this is the best way, do you start from a higt poly?)...

Re: Upcoming Models #2
I really like what I see, you're really good at plastics, yet I'd advise you to make a new frame from scratch, I usually model every part that's one piece IRL and then weld it together in the spots where it's welded IRL, works really good for me, idk if it works for you too. Anyways I would make those fork tubes 16-sided and also modify these triple clamps to make them suit the shape of the 16-sided tubes.
Something I see very often is, that people try to save polygons in places where you don't need to. Give your cockpit some detail, rounder grips etc.
Save polys somewhere else like on cables or parts you don't see anyway. A lotta people make 10-sided grips, but yet do 12-sided cables that would look almost identical to 4-sided ones. I usually do 4-sided cables, that saves me polys and i.o. allowes me to spend more polys on them and make nicer and smoother curves, but still save lots of polygons.
In other words, save polys on small parts outside the POV and spend more detail on things you see all the time (big parts).
I'm really looking forward to this bike! Keep it up!
