Looking for solid bike models for use in skinning
Hey guys,
Some of you may have heard of us, some not. Either way, just looking for some direction here.
I'd like to begin to offer some of our real world graphics kits as skins for MXS. I haven't found much info as to which are the best bike models to work from, or which are the standard models (if any)? unless I missed something somewhere....
Specifics:
Looking for a solid (ie. clean, hi-quality) base model of each of the 6 major 450 race bikes (CRF450, SXF450, FC450, KXF450, RMZ450, YZF450). Obviously the graphics won't have to be anything special on these models as they will be replaced with our designs.
Is there a standard base set such as this? Or does everything need to be acquired individually, from different creators/sources?
Not really looking for tutorials, Just need a source on solid models to work off of, if such a thing exists.
Appreciate any help and look forward to giving you guys something new to ride with in the near future.

Thank you Ryan that's a start!
Would still appreciate more info from anyone else on the newest models as well (2018). Looking for free models if that's possible, this is an after hours learning/fun project so trying to keep it free until I know what's what

Before you do start offering a service like this, you have to pay attention to what you sale. Say you buy all the latest models, well you cant sale the graphics on that model unless your customer has also purchased the model(unless free model). The only workaround for something like that is to sell them the cutout and they can apply it inside the PSD and do whatever they want from there. You'll get yourself in some trouble if you sale out any paid models

Thanks Broland, even more reason I would like to stay with free models... This project is intended to be an added benefit to our IRL graphics company customers and fans.

You can always do a deal with whoever you buy the models off, say you give them $5 per bike you do or something.broland278 wrote:Before you do start offering a service like this, you have to pay attention to what you sale. Re: Looking for solid bike models for use in skinning
For PR purposes i'd contact p2sta to see if you can work out some sort of deal to use his models.
For in-game stuff ya easiest to stick to free stuff, most of which can be found here - http://www.tmfactory-racing.com/templates.html
Or you could go the mega expensive route and buy the rights to existing models, or get models custom made similar to what VPC did (paid JRE to make a model)
I'm sure most modeler's wouldn't complain about the royalty idea though lol
