Disable In-Game Lighting Per Object?

Post by ColtonD719 »

Is there a way to disable the in-game lighting/shading for a specific model?

I am asking because I have made a tree wall to go behind some billboard trees. Since the billboards aren't affected by lighting, but the tree wall statue is, the wall doesn't blend as nicely depending on the angle.

Here's an example:
Image
At the top the wall is fully lit, and blends in with the billboards nicely. At the bottom, the wall is in shade, so it appears darker than the billboards in front of it.

In most cases, the in-game shading is desired. But I would like to turn it off for this particular object.

Thanks!

Use -2 for the specular exponent. Example:

JM1
-2.000000 1.000000 1.000000 1.000000 1.000000
4 2
-47.222309 69.444374 0.000060 0.000000 0.000000 1.000000 0.000000 1.000000
-47.222248 16.319374 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 1.000000 0.000001 0.000000
47.222069 69.444374 0.000060 0.000000 0.000000 1.000000 1.000000 1.000000
47.222130 16.319374 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 1.000000 1.000000 0.000000

This is from the same angle as the bottom half of the first picture. I'll have more to show soon. I'm pretty happy with how this is looking so far. One thing I've noticed is that it's important to keep the billboards far enough from the wall that they don't intersect, as that creates some weird artifacts from a distance.

Ha. Bottom of first pic, background trees are dark. Most recent pic, all trees are the same brightness. It's a lot more obvious in game. In any case, the point is to make the tree wall indistinguishable from the billboards, so mission accomplished?
