Re: Tuturial - Making a track on Photoshop
I think that's when he placed a gradient. Here is a quick explanation:
- On a new layer use the rectangle selection tool to select an area you want a jump to be.
- Use the gradient tool to place a gradient (linear) in the selected area.
- Go to Image>Adjustments>Curves. Here you can set what you want your jump to look like.

Re: Tuturial - Making a track on Photoshop
how do you add jumps to a hilly terrian in photoshop. thats what i would like to know. anyone post a tut on that? please?
Re: Tuturial - Making a track on Photoshop
You can pretty much do the same thing, you just have to blend the jump more (blurring smudging ect.). Set the layer the jump is on to screen also.

Re: Tuturial - Making a track on Photoshop
thanks man i didnt even think to set the layer to screen.
Re: Tuturial - Making a track on Photoshop
You're welcome . Yeah, setting it to screen is very useful, especially for outdoor terrain.

Re: Tuturial - Making a track on Photoshop
know anything about terrian images? like on and off track. im used to mcm2 where its the same size as the disp map and you just make it however you want.
Re: Tuturial - Making a track on Photoshop
MXS uses a single displacement map, generally of resolution 1025x1025. Can be 257, 513 or 2049 as well. Make sure it is 16 bit greyscale
Re: Tuturial - Making a track on Photoshop
so how would i do the dirt overlay, i cant really explain it. but basically how do i do the on and off track dirt grass etc. which is the best looking way?
Re: Tuturial - Making a track on Photoshop
to hard...xd
Re: Tuturial - Making a track on Photoshop
Holy crap I can attest to the importance of making sure it is 16 bit greyscale. GIMP (as far as I know) does not do 16 bit greyscale. I was making a decent looking disp map in GIMP but once you export and use in game you get a washboard pattern everywhere. 16 bit would fix this.DJ wrote:MXS uses a single displacement map, generally of resolution 1025x1025. So, I guess I need photoshop to do anything more...
Re: Tuturial - Making a track on Photoshop
Yeah, its kinda stupid how GIMP doesn't allow 16 bit. If it werent for that, I'd probably use it, as it has some cool features
Re: Tuturial - Making a track on Photoshop
When i put the track path over the terrain and do the screen thing. I get the terrain but no track path in the in game editor. I have tried different opacity settings. Any ideas?
