Re: Mission Valley
If that's all there is to worry about, then I guess everyone did a good job! And if it wasn't for someone finding something not right, we'd have nothing to improve upon. Next time there will be a desc file and I'll even write you a love note in there ddmx for pointing something out.
As far as the traction map, I believe it'll grow on you. We went for a harder dusty track...kinda like the desert tracks we are stuck to ride on out here in AZ lol. Maybe the traction map was fine and we missed selling the look of the dry hardpack?
Anyhow, thanks for all the awesome comments guys! The bulldozer is back out getting ready for the Summer Series at Mission Valley... some of you may know what I mean

Re: Mission Valley
might be nitpicking but there's no shadows for the tires.
Otherwise, track's great.

Re: Mission Valley
I think DJ said something like the tires (or as hes spells them "tyres") are too small to render shadows.

Re: Mission Valley
over 550,000 model polys!? I run the contest tracks on 100 model geometry and 10 model detail with shaders off and get around 50 fps but with geometry at 20 and detail at 6 I am getting between 15 and 30 fps
I'm guessing you didn't do any lod's for the trees or cacti?
Just as a comparison, the contest tracks were all under 40,000 polys. I know this is probably the prettiest track so far, but when I saw that number I was shocked. I'm not saying to cater to the lower-end computers, but maybe in the future if you could make your tracks a little more accessible to the guys with lower performance computers it would be great.

Re: Mission Valley
Yeahhh, I didn't realize it, but yeah. over 550,000 at almost all areas on the track. That's with model geometric detail at 85 for me. Those trees I gave you, you have to make a lod for them so they disappear completely at like lod8 or lod9. In comparison, or track project track has about 100,000 at all areas of the track, and it's a jungle.dearnhardtfan7 wrote:over 550,000 model polys!? Re: Mission Valley
yea I'm actually browsing computers right now looking to upgrade. Mine is one of those walmart HP slimline pieces of crap lol. I was just making a suggestion for checkerz for in the future. The more people that can play your track, the better.
And ddmx, I was thinking around 100,000 was a good number too.
Once again, I'm not knocking the track, just thought I would make a suggestion.

Wow. Truly amazing work. I used to live and ride in Tucson, and it really does have the feel of a really cool desert track.
