I think you've got the wrong folder. My guess is you're using "c:\Program Files\MX Simulator\blank". The game saves in "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\MX Simulator" (for XP). So the one under "Program Files" is unchanged.

To get things sorted out, I'd unzip a fresh blank track, rename it to "proving_grounds", and then copy the files from "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\MX Simulator\blank" over the files in "proving_grounds".

There should be a start menu entry called "MX Simulator Personal Folder" that will find Appdata\MX Simulator for you. If anyone could verify that it works and finds the right folder I'd appreciate it.

That works for me. Opens up C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Local Settings\Application Data
and the MX Simulator folder is there.

This was one of the first mistakes I was making. Editing the files located in the program files folder instead of the appdata folder.
