Offset Upset

Post by ddmx »

Within the last week of playing online I've been having issues with my offset. I'll get in a few races with the offset around 0, then it will start creeping up steadily into the tens of thousands. Restarting the game does nothing, it merely starts back and 0 and rises. As far as I can see, no new processes are running on my comp. Thoughts? I initially thought I'd remembered reading something about sending and recieving packets but don't know anything further than just that.

It should speed up the game to compensate. I'll take another look at it after tonight's race. You are getting a smooth framerate right?

Smooth framerate, but the audio starts getting real glitchy and my bike and the others start jumping around.

If you start the game with --draw-time 1 and compare a stopwatch to the time in single player, does the time stay in sync?

The game will scale its clock by up to 1.125 to catch up to the server.

No time difference even after 20 minutes.

Can you test this? It will run at double speed instead of 1+1/8 speed to catch back up to the server.

3 races in 02, offset starts rising steadily. 6 races in 00, steady at 0. 26GB free on hard drive. hard drive is 5 years old, 5400 write speed. I'm blaming it on a failing hard drive lol. gonna reformat and report.
