Game Running Slow

Post by Number3 »

I've had this game quite a while now and it used to run fine with XP. I've recently installed vista and the game has been running very slow.

I've tried the following:

#Performed driver update for vista for my laptop. (includes latest graphics drivers etc.)
#Changed game settings to minimum settings
#Turned off all the visual styles in vista

I've also tried searching but can't find anything.

Under Graphics/Sound setup, what does it say under driver info?

It shows the correct info. (Geforce Go 7600gt)

I also have 2GB of RAM and a 2GHz C2D processor in this laptop.

I've also looked in task manager and there doesn't seem to be anything hogging the cpu.

I've been putting vista off for so long and am now really starting to regret it.

Vista would only make things worse. Try updating your graphics drivers

With lag, can you buy like Ram or some hard drive to make it faster? Becuase i can run about 5 spliced riders with skins/ also just so the computer runs better aswell?

It's not a hardware problem since it ran fine for him before.

It might help to run it in a window instead of fullscreen.

If all else fails nvidia is supposed to have laptop drivers soon. Unfortunately only the 8 and 9 series GPU's are available right now. They claim they will support the 7 series early next year.

Nah, the driver is brand specific, usually card specific

Ok, I think it may be a graphics card problem (although I'm not 100%).

I've run the game on highest settings and my CPU peaks at around 60% but it is jumping around wildly.

I've also tried installing the orange box and portal ran pretty poorly and it never used to before.
