ill think about doing it but im nowhere near completing ponza's track. so i would probably start next year :/. anyway its about a hour away from me. my local track is SouthteesMX, its a great track but i was looking somewhere different to go and i came accross PJMX and Fatcat. is it worth the hours drive to fatcat for a intermediate rider?

I've never ridden on the practice track at Fatcat but I've ridden on the race track. If you enjoy the sand then you'll probably have fun around some of the big berms for a bit but it's just a shame the track is so flat, literally no natural terrain to work with and so for me it's a bit boring. By the end of the day it gets VERY rough. I can't really see it being that fun for mxsim since it's like a sandy supercross track but with no rhythm. As for it being worth the drive, some of my friends make a 2 and a half hour drive there virtually every other week to ride the practice track so I guess they must think so. :P

FatCat is worth travelling 2.5 hours to just for the berms. They dont get any of those silly little ruts they just stay as one massive berm all day long and you can hit them wide open.

An hour is not a long way to go to get to a practice track! Its definitely worth the trip. However the whole area is flooded at the moment, I was meant to be racing at FatCat today but it got cancelled because the whole track is under water :(

Elf, can you tell me, is the sand like redbud or DJD's new track where it really bogs you down, have to keep it pinned almost the whole time? It looks like it from the video that was posted...

Yeh pretty much. The berms always stay really nice and you can just hit them but the rest of the track gets really rough. This was the promo video for the track opening, you can see in the video its really dry but also really sandy and it gets deeper when it has more moisture in it.

The aerial shot posted on the first page is the old layout though and the new layout is not on bing or google maps yet so I would say there isnt really much point starting the track yet.

I could try and make the layout according to the on board laps, then send it to you for comparison... :?:
