Also be sure to use search tempest. It shows craigslist ads from however many miles away you want from your zipcode.

Do they sell Cycle Trader or anything of the like in your area? Around here, they sell them in the gas stations and the like. Also, look for a motocross community site around your area, there may be a classifieds section. Hope you find a bike!

You could try getting a 125. They might be cheaper and easier to find. You definitely need a big bike if you are 6' 2" though.

Go with a 125. They are cheaper, a dime a dozen, ten times cheaper to rebuild and IMO less maintenance as long as you stay on top of your air filters and oil. If money is tight a 2 stroke is the way to go. I've rebuilt entire 2 stroke engines(top and bottom end) for just under $500cdn. If you look in the right places parts are cheap and available. I would love to see someone do a top and bottom end on a 4 stroke with OEM parts for under $1000. It can be done but it's very difficult.

A 2 stroke is the racer on a budgets best friend. Plus the 2 stroke market seems to be on the rebound right now, so in a few years you should be able to trade an older 2 stroke 125 for a bit newer 250f no problem. If not you can definitely sell it for more than you bought it for.

again i have tested a 125 and i really didnt enjoy it as much as i enjoyed the 250f ive always enjoyed 4 strokes more myself i usually keep on top of maintenence so i dont have to replace parts much this was my first 2 stroke and i enjoyed it a little but i do miss the 4 strokes which is mainly why im goin for a 250f seems more of my style of a bike

You should be able to find a nice 09 or 2010 for about that price, the crf and the kxf were good bikes for those years. I would recommend the 2010 kx250f. That's was a very good bike and reliable. You should be able to find one for about that price.
Craigslist is your best bet.

DO NOT BUY THE 2004 RMZ.
2004-2006 RMZ's were made by Kawi and were terrible and unreliable, it won't last very long before it'll beak down and cost you a lot of $$$ in repairs. This arcticle: http://motocrosshideout.com/what-is-the ... dirt-bike/ explains that...

If you're looking for a reliable bike with plenty of power, get a 2006 and newer YZ250f.

And yea do not buy a 04-06 kawi of suzuki, junk.
