Hi all, I've just got this MX sim tonight. Can somebody please suggest a good setup for me. I find it very hard to steer at hight speed. Is this normal?

if you go into your bike setting menu there is an option for stability, if you turn your stability down the turning will get better, i suggest just working your way down until you can comfortably ride at around .. 30 or so
lower it as you get better at the game

Sorry, i'm like you, searching for a setup since few days. I'm driving with analogical controler (flightstick) and pedals and it seems to be harder, i've heard than many of best pilots are with keyboard.

Xbox 360 controller is by far easiest for me.

i use the keyboard and set it up how i wanted it

My settings are:

Z=clutch
X=gas
C=rear brake
V=front brake
B=backup
D=upshift
SPACEBAR=downshift
UP ARROW=lean forwards
DOWN ARROW=lean back
LEFT/RIGHT= turning

I tried playing with my PS3 controller, and I was pretty good, but the keyboard is the way to go for me.

Here's a good place to start with suspension setting:

Rebound at 80, front and rear

Compression at 40 front, 30 rear

So what you've did for that ? I'm tring since 3 days to find a good feeling with my old MS Sidewinder Precision Pro, tweaking the secret stability. For the moment i'm settings stab between 30-70, and down roll limit angle to 37-40, and playing with all other settings and i'm going to be crazy !
Sometimes i got a good feeling but i lose my setups or next time i can't find this feeling again So there, i start for stock and do that again...
And each track i must set a new suspension setup and i'm fighting with that too because of the amount of effect on the bike control.

I'm started to look other joystick to buy for this game...

I setup my stick for leaning, b1 clutch, b2 Rear Brake(490 antilock), (auto-shift for now)
I tryed to setup rear brake on second pedal (no antilock) and front brake on buton 2 (antilock), and linked with front brake too.

I think i must be easier to play with keyboard, but not so fun when i will have my setup !!!

lol i use same stick,sidewinder precision pro,stability settings will revert automatically to default if you move the stability slider in set-up,so once you've tweaked the settings to your liking leave that alone and then you'll keep your settings ok. i think using the joystick you want a mid-high roll damping so it's not over sensitive,so find what suits you.roll limit angle determines how far you can lean and roll limit factor how fast he rolls,i set them similar to low-low mid stability. only other one i altered is low speed roll damping,so that low speed feels similar to high speed.

these settings are more a set-up for input control so you can get a set-up for keyboard,joystick etc. to get the feel of response you like,so once you've found some nice settings you don't need to touch them again regardless of track,that's more governed by bike and rider settings.

each track requires some tweaking to bike and rider, gradually you'll find a basic set-up as a starting point that'll suit a lot of tracks,but some are unique like lierop lol. start with one track like eskewanbe park,and find a good sus-set-up,when you can nail that good move to another with a similar surface like locust,see if you need to make slight alterations,then you'll learn what each setting does.

lol when you start out at this game it's a steep learning curve so you gotta be patient there's no magic set-up to suit all tracks,but give some guys a bag of nails they'll still be fast, go figure!

"Can you pm me your config. file, (and anyone reading that) for a sample track (euh, 2 samples: sx and bumpy Mx ?" ^^ Sorry for that but i think this will help me a lot in time, and if i can play with all of you without stay on the ground this will be very coooool !I will use this or some parts of your settings for further developments. I already had a 15 years "carrier(*)" in Mx/Sx and more as gamer (even sim-gamer) and my father is one of best french motorbike specialist (optimizer^^). It's just difficult, even for me, to find this fucking feeling and a base to setup the suspensions.
I'm not here for competition but i can understand if , i just want to ride with you dudes !!^^

uh..no, there's no presentation topic ^^

I'm French, i'm leaving in Clermont-Ferrand, I just begun bike at 3,5 years on a really good entirely daddy made pit-bike's (photo here when i find one) with i won my first race at 5 years in 1979 then I won locals "Auvergne" championships a lot of years in 50-60(i had the first french 50 CR^^ after 1 month on a 50 yz, yes, my dad like Honda and me too), 2nd in a national race fighting with Michael Pichon in 60 , third and a local title in 80, and after some times, now on 125RM 88,90,, 3rd and 1 local "ligue A" 125 junior title, but never gone in national champ or only some races next my home. With a lot of big pauses i rarely could reach my optimum level of performance, "fast as 1st but physically unstuffed" ;p So i never really did MX again, since i stopped at 18 after some life issues.
And I'm really, really, really, happy ! to find some of these sensations again on this game, and more when i will find my *#@#?!! setup!
So, if you want make me happy, you can pm me your config. file content for testing purpose, I love the community sharing's philosophy !!!

hey ! Did you try to set the accelerator to the Rotation Z axis ? ^^ seem like a real with right hand but not so easy verticaly with leaning :/

I tried Dxtweak and setup some deadzone, it's seem to be better with.
Do you think Low speed roll damp can help me with my front wheel wish, when i'm turning slowly at pivot point, rip of too early (need 0.2 sec)

so once you've found some nice settings you don't need to touch them again regardless of track,that's more governed by bike and rider settings.

And what about rider ? For the moment i only lower the forward damping to 0-15 and set rider distribution to 0.33

sorry i don't send config file,but you cannot ride good with auto gears,you must use manual gear change.
