2013 AMA Supercross Discussion

I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

KTM is in the right track, I would add that the rut in the whoops played just as big of a role in it all.

wow great helmet cam footage.

Sucked to see a number of top riders down and out...I agree with the comment "who puts a whoop section after the first turn!?"

Felt like the track was pretty poorly designed. The placement of the sand section made little sense (because it was completely 1 lined), no interesting rhtyhms, and is it just me or were there 3 whoop sections?

Only two saki.

What is a safe obstacle for the first straight? Triple? Rhythm lane? Chicane? Tabletop? No matter what you put there they'll find a way to wreck on it.

IDK how much you can hear your own bike during the scratch, but, I would want lower, simpler obstacles to start. I also don't know how confident they are without hearing the engine. Shift points are more muscle memory and timing I would guess than judgment of speed. Amazing there's not more pileups than that.

What is lower and simpler than whoops on a SX track?

The roller before is silly, just gives them more space to get speed into them. Slower whoops are better, and you can built bigger without hurting the riders.

I think an easier rhythm section is better than whoops, because with so many guys around you in a whoop section like that, you get sketchy and you will end up taking people down with you since everyone is packed in so close.

The point is not naming which person did what in history/past. I think what most are saying in this case, is with Rhythm Sections you can at least switch up the section if you mis time something somehow. With whoops right after the start like that, everyone is so bunched up, one person get's a bit sketchy ( Reed ), it is a recipe for disaster. At the same token, I do agree. Make the tracks, let em race. They are pro's they should be able to handle it all. Just bad luck happens sometimes right?

Problem with this set of whoops was that they were so fast. Make them big and slow and you don't swap side so side so quickly.

Everyone thought the rhythm Savatgy caused the pile up in at A2 was easy and one lined...but....
